I know of a teenager who is deaf, she wears a hearing aid in her better ear

Welcome

I am the parent of a 10 year old daughter who is moderate-severe in one ear

and mild-normal in the other. She is also progressive since preschool age.

She has enlarged vestibular aqueduct syndrome (LVA.

She is aided in one ear, and uses an FM in school. We also have had

trouble getting classified with an IEP, not just 504, and finally got one.

However, my daughter just got back her fourth grade state language arts

standardized testing and she did very well, so I as sure this battle will

continue!

Just curious - has your daughter ever had a CT scan to check for LVA?

Hi, My name is --yours was a very interesting read. The part about " My

daughter is on an IEP with goals in self advocacy and developing her note

taking skills so that she can remain competitive in the regular classroom " is

going to be put on my next IEP. She just turned 10--Has a bi-lateral

moderate to sever HI---Thanks for the insight--I don't feel I get it all from

the professionals as to what I should be requesting. It seems the older the

child gets, they feel they don't need as much help. I think its quite the

opposite as the material gets harder & harder.

Do you honestly expect to loose 20lbs in 9 days...please be verycarefull, that

is not healthy at all, and this juice diet thingy, all that is doing i feel is

flushing all the fluids out of your body there is no way that is fat lbs your

would loose am sure its only water gain ....there is no " quick fix " to

weightloss, it is a tedeious, slow and arduous process that in the long run is

worth thepain, noone said it was going to be easy :) smiling.....a healthy diet,

exercise is the best way to go i feel,

Oh !! Please don't do that diet! Read the bottle! Do you

know how many calories you are going to consume in those two days?

Waayyyyy too little! I saw a report on the news on this diet. They

said it is the same thing as drinking a couple of glasses of juice in

a day. That is all you can have! That has to be under 500

calories!!! The dr. on that news report also said that all the weight

that is lost is water weight. It will leave you on the toilet for two

days straight. And if you think about it, you cannot even possibly

lose that much " real weight " in two days. You have to burn 23,400

calories in two days to lose that weight (2600*9). The only way you

could do that was if you ran 10 mph for 24 hours within that time

period. Of course, at least that way you could eat!

I'm not trying to be mean, I just don't want you to hurt yourself!

Go on your vacation and have fun. Focus on losing the weight

afterwards!

Hi , I don't mean to sound like an old mother hen or anything but have

you not read my posts lately about how I did all these fad diets and lost and

gained so much weight that it has damaged my body. These fad diets are just

that, a fad that doesn't work. Quick fixes are just fluid. Weight takes time to

be lost. In about 10 more years you will start to feel the effects of yoyo

dieting. When I hit about 45 is when I could no longer take these type of diets.

Now I get ill if I try to diet strenuously, my heart cant take that like it use

to when i was young. Please take care of yourself.

Hugs, Tina

Welcome !

Glad you decided to post! It is a very great group here. Lots of

good ideas are shared! Feel free to post whatever you want, negative

Hi and welcome. I had to giggle when you said exercise was the one thing

that we all agree on. LOL That was funny. Hey, I was born and raised in Houston,

Texas. I now live in Angleton for 3 years and before that, I lived in

Friendswood for 14. Both of those towns are right outside of Houston. Are you

born and raised in Houston? Welcome to our group. I know you will like it here.

feel better today. You all have such wonderful things to say. Since

Welcome to the group. I am at 248 and have a long way to go as well. Jump

on in and tell us more about yourself so we can support you. What are you

doing for exercise? Make sure you drink tons of water it helps the pounds

drop faster, we all also agree on that! And anger and depression can be

posted here as well, we understand and many of us feel that way too from time

to time. Welcome and can't wait to hear more from you.

Thanks for the welcome... I too have a problem with sweets. It seems I

battle it constantly. I haven't found any balance. If I allow myself a

little, I want a lot, and if I deny myself inevitably I go off and have a

binge. It's been hard for me... I was bad at Halloween and now I'm having

trouble recovering from that.

My very worst problem is the free food that appears in the kitchen at work,

and the candy bowls that sit around here. The minute I see " free

food " !!! all my senses go off and I have to have one, two, you name. I

sneak back into the kitchen to get as much as I can.

A friend once told me, it's not about the food..... no. It's not. But I'm

still struggling, whether it is, or isn't.

With me it is about the food. I really really enjoy eating the

sweets. I don't feel like there is a under lining reason of why I

like to munch except that it is yummy and I love it. So I have to

stay away from it all together. I understand about the " free

food " ! I think every work place has that. How annoying are those

skinny people who say " One won't hurt you " . They really don't

understand that I can't stop at one. Good luck with the struggle.

We can do it!!!!

I have the same issue. There is no " just one. " If there is a bowl

of candy, I will literally sneak candy out of it. Kinda like if no

one sees me working out at the gym, I'm not fat. If no one sees me

with the candy, then I'm not really eating it. If only that were

true!
