Guest guest
Hi all, I hope that everyone's week is off to a good start. We've got about 16 weigh-ins left in 2004... it's never too late to get back on track if we've derailed. Gone are the days of waiting to start a healthy eating plan until the start of the week, month, or new year. Recently, my hubby decided that he needs to start eating healthier. He's got that little, middle-age, belly paunch thing going, so he gave me a shopping list of everything that he wanted (lean meats, fish, whole grains, nuts, veggies, etc., etc.), so that evening, after dropping my daughter off at youth decipleship, I drag my tired butt through Wal-Mart. On my way through the last aisle, with cart loaded, my phone rings.... Hubby wants me to stop at Sonic and pick him up a brown bag special (burger, fries, coke)!!! So, I explain that I've got the cart loaded with who-knows-how-much-its-gonna-cost healthy food items that he requested. To which he replied, "Well, I didn't know that I was starting THAT tonight!" Yup, he got my lecture over the phone as I stood in the middle of Wal-Mart.... If you're going to commit to something... do not procrastinate for another minute. We don't have to wait until the start of a new day, new week, new month, or new year to begin making healthy lifestyle changes. Even if it is in the middle of the day... no matter what we may have already eaten today. We haven't "blown it" until we continue making choices that conflict with the goals we've set for ourselves. I recently had a very hard 3 weeks... 3 weeks in a row weighing in with a gain. I had to give myself a lot of pep talks this past week. We've come to far to turn around and go back. Its hard enough to lose those dang pounds... and ridiculous to have to struggle to lose the same dang pounds over again. It was hard enough to lose 'em in the first place! I was able to get back on track and lose the 1.50 lbs that I'd gained, plus another quarter of a pound, but today is a new day, and the struggle continues. It helps know that I have so many TOPS friends that understand the struggles that I'm experiencing. I'm always grateful to see your smiling faces at TOPS and to receive your emails. Have a terrific week everyone... and remember....."Where the heart is willing, it will find a thousand ways.
