Medicare Prescription?

My wife changes where she works next week and I am wondering from any of you if medicare part D is what you use for your medicine? I am wondering if my Copaxone will be covered and also my insulin? How much will it end up costing me and any other details. I have been to the medicare web page and it has most of the info I will need but was just wondering from people using right now. I am hoping for a smooth transition.Bill

CALL Medicare and ask these questions. I was getting all kinds of incorrect info from my insurance and finally called Medicare on Sunday. Did you know Medicare is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week?

Will you be on your wife's insurance? Apparently your insurance is changing so tell me what's going on?

The telephone number is: 1-800-MEDICARE; if the prompts do

not lead you anywhere, just say CLEARLY the word "AGENT"

and you will eventually be allowed to speak to a live HUMAN.

I dislike the voice activated systems. I live in a very busy, noisy household and it makes it difficult. Once I was on the phone with Sears service (voice activated) and my 3 month old hooligan puppies started for the kitchen trash and I yelled "get out of that" and the Sears robotic female voice said sweetly "I'm sorry, I didn't understand that command".

Her new insurance will be a lot higher than what she has now

and the co-pay and deductible doesn't sound too good either. I am

hoping going through Medicare might help us save some money in the long

run.

I got a hold of Social Security and there message about Medicare was

annoying enough for me to just hang up.'

Bill, call 1-800 MEDICARE, go through the first prompt or two,

and where there is a pause, say clearly the word "AGENT!" This

may not get you a real expert, but it beats those stupid messages!

Call Medicare directly. I know n gave the number and it's also on the back of your medicare card. With Medicare Part D there is the 'gap' that affects most people. I think it's the same for everyone unless a person is eligible for assistance with your gap period and co-pays. The first $2200 in a year is paid for by Medicare Part D and then from $2200 to $3600 the individual is responsible for all drugs costs. Then after you hit $3600 Medicare pays again. Did that make sense Bill?

Medicare part d is a joke. make sure you read all the fine print in all the possible policies, one may pay for your copaxone but not pay for insulin or vise versa then there's the whole you pay a deductible(usually 250) then they cover 80% for the first 500 dollars (you pay 100 out of pocket) then you are responsible for the next 2500 then the'll pick up at 90% Good luck. It is all based on income and if you make 150% above poverty level(if you get mor than 1800 a month) then you fall into one of those plans. It was a trick by the government to get people to think they were getting drug coverage when were they need to start id the outrageous price the drug companies charge Ok I'll get off my soap box. But I see too many of my fixed income patients that have to decide wether they can eat or take their medicine ' in Texas MS-Bill wrote: My wife changes where she works next week and I am wondering from any of you if medicare part D is what you use for your medicine? Thanks for giving me the heads up on Medicare because I found

on there list of Prescription programs I wanted to use but when I went

to add a medical plan to it, I decided to call both my neurologist and

family doctor to see if they had a suggestion as to which medical plan

I should go with and the nurse at my neurologist told me I shouldn't

take Medicare without a backup insurance plan to take care of cost's

that Medicare won't pay for. She used an MRI as an example and said if

I had one with Medicare I would end up paying for most of it myself. I

know if I can have the chance I would like to get into that drug study

Darlene want to do again and I may need another MRI also. Judy's

insurance wont kick in until 90 day's after she has worked there. We

both decided to just make use of her insurance and skip Medicare. I get

my Copaxone on a monthly basis and when that time comes I may do like

some and see if I can get Copaxone to just send me some free until

Judy's insurance kicks in. I feel funny though calling them for free

Copaxone. If I can't get any of it from them I will skip taking that

med for a month or 2.

Thanks for your help.

I am not to aware of the situation in the U.S. but my copaxone costs the provincial government here over $1300 for one month's supply for me. I am at the top of the expense list for drugs because with all my other drugs---they cost close to$25,000 per year. I get my Copaxone on a monthly basis and when that time comes I may do like some and see if I can get Copaxone to just send me some free until Judy's insurance kicks in. I feel funny though calling them for free Copaxone. If I can't get any of it from them I will skip taking that med for a month or 2. Thanks for your help. if medicare part D is what you use for your medicine? I am wondering if my Copaxone will be covered and also my insulin? How much will it end up costing me and any other details. I have been to the medicare web page and it has most of the info I will need but was just wondering from people using right now. I am hoping for a smooth transition.Bill How low will we go? Bill, There is not going to be a lapse in the insurance coverage is there? Because if you go 30 days without any coverage they will deem it preexisting and not pay on anything for up to 18 months. yes, that would solve it if they carried their cobra for three months. I know it's usually really expensive but worth it the long run when you have something like ms or htn or hx of cancer 'Sharon Marsden wrote: Good point, '. If Bill got the COBRA coverage would that solve that problem?
