Guest guest
Hey there! Just wanted to try and answer a few of your questions : relapse ... I dunno the answer to that one. Iam 9 weeks post op from upper and lower and I never had a splint I was banded from the beginning... after 8 weeks I went to the ortho. and he gave me heavier bands that are to be kept in until braces are removed (5-6 more months) these are not as much of an eye-sore as the surgical bands because of the new location, but they are a lot more tight and uncomfortable. In terms of eating ... I got the go ahead after 6 weeks to eat " what ever I wanted " which really means whatever you can handle. I was and still am pretty numb in my cheek area so they look awful because I bite them all of the time (I am allowed to take out my bands to eat) although they act as a nice buffer between my cheeks and teeth:) Also my teeth felt numb at first and I couldnt guage whether or not my food was ground up enough or not. Now I have been able to eat most everything the problem is getting it into my mouth because I cant open half as wide as I could before ... even snuck my sons cheez puff and it was fine just had a hard time putting it between the molars! Hope this helps! Good luck and happy eating > I had lower advanced 7mm 3 weeks ago and am feeling great.
