Do you know of a book being written by somebody? Give me a hint.

Oh yes, I have the manuscript on my desk ready to go! JUST kidding! Well,

actually, I have often thought of working on a book. However, I don't want to

be responsible for writing a book that is " comprehensive " about VV. What a

nightmare. I agree with you, that a book that is pulling from the experiences

of women on this list, and other vulvodynia lists, would be awesome. I would

love to contribute.

FYI, I am part of a small support-oriented list for women who have had VV

since they were young (usually notice it when they try a tampon, or try sex, but

sometimes much younger). The emotional trauma of VV is awful at any age, but

growing up with it is really, really hard. It bores right into your identity.

So, the list is very good, lots of support, and many, many amazing stories. I

believe that these stories (and of course all the adult-onset stories) need to

be told. Perhaps we will write a book, we will see. Any type of book on VV ( I

just call it " VV " out of habit, by the way...) would be SO welcome.

I too suspect a silent epidemic of vulvar pain of all kinds.

(Unfortunately, I am not as optimistic about the human genome project helping...

I have lots of issues with that type of modern medicine and the ethics and

perspectives on the body that it entails, but if it helps VV I will change my

tune I am sure!) I am suspicious of environmental causes. Also, just the

general deteriation of people's health. WHY do I have a thyroid problem? Just

genetics? (no one in my family has this...) Just my stressful childhood?

etc....

I just wish all drs. could hear our stories. I think the most intelligent,

caring women exist on these VV lists! It is amazing, and I think we need to get

our voices out there! I have the activist bug in me....

I am so glad you have learned a lot from this list. Will you go on Oprah

with us? :-))
