The >only thing I know I won't do is belittle individuals>and call people >names.... >Bette The way I see it is they are all deeply dishonest, and no-one should be even thinking of negotiation with them in any way. They use the idea of retaliation for excessive arf postings to arna to justify what is really just a giant arcade game to them- the destruction of a newsgroup, with real people being squashed in the process. But- it is no coincidence that the topic of the newsgroup that they have chosen to destroy is one that makes them uncomfortable. It makes them doubly uncomfortable becaaue they don't, for the most part, have much understanding of the program they are supposed to be defending, so to encounter people who are saying not only do we not need that program, we don't need their meetings or their fellowship- it undermines them in ways they do not even understand. However, since the postings to arna do seem to irritate them, and since arf12s is virtually unusable as it is, I took a good look at arna recently wondering if it might not be a good place to post information about recovery from the 12 steps and new methods- I haven't actualy done that myself before, but the arna'ers bullshit has got me thinking. So I looked. I haven't had a good, close look at arna recently, and it was an eye-opener to do so. It is amazing. It is almost totally full of the same sort of bullshit. It isn't even anything to do with recovery- it is full of adolescent nonsense, immature people playing games with one another. There is next to nothing there that would help an addict seeking recovery. So since posting arf12s material there irritates those fools so much (and so disproportionately), and since it is hard to find anything at the moment on arf12s, I consider arna is as good enough a place as any to post information and a modern perspective on the 12 steps. Of course, a moderated arf12sm ng where we can actually have an intelligent discussion would be far better still...
