Do you know of an agency/business who offers services to families with children on the Autism Spectrum in SPANISH? If so, please share this email, we can list them in the website directory. It’s free! This is a website made by families for families. We Latinos are desperate for information. But there isn’t much available in Spanish. The conferences are great but in English. For Latinos who don't speak English, it's scary. Many have never heard the word 'AUTISM.' Imagine a doctor telling you your child will never be normal, The only thing you understand is that your child is not normal, and you want answers. But the only answers they give you are in English. When my child was diagnosed I felt like I entered a tunnel of the unknown, fogged by emotions and cultural issues. I’M FORTUNATE TO SPEAK ENGLISH & SPANISH, BUT MANY FAMILIES ARE NOT. Sadly for us Latinos, an autistic child is often dismissed with a scornful "Esta loco" he’s crazy, or “Es raro”, he’s just weird. Autistic Latino children face an additional handicap, because parents frequently refuse to believe there is anything wrong with them. In our culture, a lot of people lose time in getting help for their children because of the false expectation that they will get better. Some of us fell into that trap for a while. This is where we all make a difference, by helping Latino Children and their families exercise their lawful rights. Get your own web address. Have a HUGE year through Yahoo! Small Business.
