Guest guest
I've never had a problem with perms or colorings while using Synthroid; however, my stylist did once tell me that she would prefer to NOT do anything around the time that I am hypothyroid. Remember also, that the hair on your head for 6 months or more after being hypo will not be the same, it may be weaker.
Guest guest
speculation -- The new, " baby " hair may have taken up the perm solution sooner/better/easier than the " old " hair (that hadn't fallen out and been replaced), so when the perm seemed to be " done " (looking at a sample curl which happened to be of a " new " hair) and the stuff removed, the " old " hair hadn't had enough time to " work " . more spec, based on the above -- if the sample had been an " old " hair and the stuff left on, what would the " new " hair have looked like! bj who has very short hair anyway. (I've been asked, a few years before thyca, if I'd had chemo and that's why my hair was so short! but that was a couple of days after a cut.) Synthroid effects hair perm?????? > > I just made a bad hair choice. I got a perm because my hair is so fine and flat. Well, I lost alot of hair after my RAI's and I have a lot of new fine, baby growth about 5 inches long, that took the curl great! The rest of my hair did not!!! The beautitian asked if I was on any medications and said it was probably because of the thyroid medication. Anyone else know about this or have this experience? >
Guest guest
Hi, , I have been a hairstylist for 21 years and have had thyca for 10 years. All medication you take effects your hair as does what you eat and how you live life. The new hair probably took because it was shorter hair. I don't know how long your hair is or if it is chemically treated etc. , but that all plays a part in the outcome. You can e-mail me privately if would like.
