I think it was on a.r.from-12-steps (when that NG could

still be read) or it may be on the RR page that someone

posted the text in the T & T of Tradition 6 - in which the

author wryly muses on how they had ambitions to spread the

program into " criminality, dope addiction " , create AA

hospitals, and how AA members would tell judges who would

get sent to AA and who to jail, etc. (I suspect the text

is at least in part mendacious - it implies that these

ambitions were the result of AA success, but the OGM had

those ambitions before anyone could claim any effectiveness

in overcoming alcoholism, let alone anything else, and hence

did *not* start as a result of AA growth.)

The poster suggested that all these ambitions have in fact

happened. (Now almost everybody gets sent to AA even if

they are sent to jail - at least if they want to get out).

The explicit AA name isnt used - they have become NA, or

become " independent " rehabs where the entire

counselling/therapeutic staff belong to one *A group or

another. The 12SP has become so safe, " even from " ,

that like the plant in " Little Shop of Horrors " it is

growing everywhere and devouring everyone in sight.

Just as Xtianity, or at least montheism, is so

well-established in our culture that Boy Scouts recite

prayers, the 12SP is becoming completely endemic in

US life, and in the West generally. The virus has become

the mitochondria of the American cultural cell. Let us hope

it is not cancerous.
