Guest guest
Hi, I am four weeks post-RAI and I still don't have my taste sensation back. I did talk with my endo about this and he said that it is tied in with salivary gland damage. I didn't realize this BEFORE the RAI. He said that dull taste sensation is actually quite common after RAI although obviously not everyone will experience it. He told me it could last days to weeks to months... really depending on the person and their circumstances. I was really hoping mine would have resumed by now, but I still have hope! (The good thing is that I just eat when I am hungry because smells don't do anything for me anymore... I don't get cravings at all.) The good news is that as far as salivating, my glands seem to be fine in that respect. I have experienced the strangest symptoms post-RAI such as a swollen tongue (which has resolved), nose bleeding (which has NOT resolved), and a few other things. Anyway, just wanted to add my two cents about this since I, too, am experiencing this as well. Good Luck! Happy Hanukkah to all that celebrate! Guest guest
I'm 9 weeks post, and everything still has a kind of flat flavor, but it's getting better. At 4 weeks I was mildly nauseous from hypo. The swollen tongue/slurred speach bothered me a lot! I was told (at the ThyCa conference) that hypo makes your tongue swell. I didn't have nose bleeds, but have had frequent runny nose. Happy Chanukah to you. Feel good. / > Hi, > > I am four weeks post-RAI and I still don't have my taste sensation back.
