Whether you can be a safe guest or not depends on the layout of your

grandparents' house and how willing your relatives are to cooperate.

By day 8 you should be safe near adults (I'd minimize hugging and

kissing), but you will need to stay as far away as possible from

infants and anyone who *might* be pregnant. If your cousin is

willing to wave at you from across the room, you shouldn't pose

any danger to her or the baby. If you have a sit-down dinner, be

careful who sits near you (and wash your own dishes separately from

everyone else's).

You can, but it would be a whole lot easier just to avoid walking

around barefoot while you're radioactive. Before your RAI, either

find a pair of bedroom slippers that can go through the washing

machine safely, or inexpensive ones that you won't mind discarding

later. Toss a washable bedspread, blanket, or sheet over your

favorite chair, don't let anyone else sit on it, and wash it twice

when you're finished glowing.

The week before Christmas obviously isn't the ideal time for RAI,

but with a little planning you can still enjoy the holidays. And

looking on the bright side, you'll be ready to party by New Year's

Eve!

Hi Amy

I assume that you are quite young, so you probably excrete iodine quite

quickly.

I would say that you need do very little on day 8.

I can see no need nor advantage to cleaning carpets.

The only thing that is still marginal at day 8 might be your saliva, so wet

kissing is still worth avoiding, but segregating your fork is only worthwhile

if you slobber over it.
