Guest guest
Hi, this is O, I was just getting all my Emails I was away for awhile. Anyways, I was reading about some of you getting your medical files. In Canada it is law that the doctors have to give you your file, you have to pay for it but they can not refuse to give it to you. When I requested my file from one of the doctors that I had seen, lets call him Dr. S (he was friends with the doctor that caused me to get Ashermans), he removed stuff out of it and he also used white out to cover things up. The only reason why I knew things were missing was because I had every appointment and every test date written down. When I got my file from Dr. S there were 3 ultrasound test results missing and some paperwork from when I had seen him in his office. I could not believe that he would have the nerve to do that. I was so angry. I soon realized that the reason he took these files out was because I was in a lot of pain one day and I called him and told him I had to see him right away I went in and he said I am going to do an ultrasound to see what is going on, when I was having my ultrasound done the technician was acting really weird and asking me if the doctor has told me what is wrong with me she then told me that she felt really bad for me and that she wished me good luck. The technician is not allowed to tell you what is wrong so she told me to asak my doctor what is going on and she said to also get a second opinion. Anyways to make a long story short I then went back to Dr.S right after my ultrasound and told me that there was nothing in ultrasound and to take tylenol and go home. I was doubled over in pain I knew there was something wrong but he lied and would not tell me. When I went to see a specialist out of town, Dr. L, I told him that there was stuff missing from files and he could not believe that the Dr. S would do that, he then called the Dr.S and told him he wants all the stuff that was missing from my file. Dr.S sent it to him and I found out that the reason why I was in so much pain that day was because there was a cyst on my ovary and it had broke and there was free fluid. I could not believe it, I was shocked cause when I went for my ultrasound I asked Dr.S right after if there was any free fluid and he said no that there was nothing wrong with me that I was imagining it. Can you believe that????? He also told me that i brought all of the problems that I was having on myself I told him that all I did was have my son and then a D & C and then all my problems started. I also asked that if his wife or his daughter was going through what I was going through would you protect the doctor that messed her up, he then told me to leave his office and I said dont worry I will be leaving an I will also be filing a complaint against you and with that I walked out. I did call the Canadian medical Association and filed a complaint. The reason I am writing this is to tell every body -please keep track of everything, every test, every medical appointment you need to do it to protect yourselves. I kept a journal of everything and I mean everything and I was luck that I noticed there were files missing. Please keep track. I hope evryone is doing good and I am thinking about you all always. Guest guest
O., It's great that you had the journal to prove yourself. I know know know mistakes were removed from my files, but I have no way to prove it. I don't talk about it anymore, except with this group, because people tend to really think you're paranoid and imagining things. It's really cool that you gave him a piece of your mind. A lot of the pain I went through in the beginning would have really been alleviated if I could have just given them a piece of my still-intact mind. But they hid from me -- I wouldn't be needing an OB any more!! Once I was so mad I waited in a waiting room of preggos for three hours insisting that the doctor talk to me and not blow me off. This was after phone calls had been ignored for months. They refused to see me, eventually rescheduling me with a brand new, clueless young doctor. It wasn't her fault, so I gave up. I've learned though that every hospital patient really needs to be their own advocate, not just for this type of issue. My mother-in-law had a stroke last month and was languishing in the hospital "waiting for rehab" for a week. When my husband got irritated enough to press the issue, turns out the nurses on duty thought she had had a heart attack and were minutes away from giving her blood thinners -- very dangerous for stroke patients. Guest guest
Dear O I feel very sorry for you that the doctor could even dream of saying to you that you have caused the problems yourself isn't it bad enough that we have these problems without that cavalier attitude I would of knocked his block off the arrogant !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am going to request my medical records also as I have previously mentioned and it is my mother that has said be careful as they remove bits. I want to find out the doctor's name that did this to me and meet him and see what he has to say . Good luck to you the only one good thing is that you filed a complaint against him. Love and hugs to you also xx Re: Re: Medical FilesHi, this is O, I was just getting all my Emails I was away for awhile. Anyways, I was reading about some of you getting your medical files. Guest guest
O, I am horrified to hear that there are doctors out there like yours!! How inhumane can one get?? I only wished you had a tape recorder with you when you visited him. Maybe that is what we should all start thinking about.!! Did you say that the other doctor phoned him up and Dr S actually sent him the missing files??? Can you please answer the following information needed for my excel sheet? You got ashermans after the birth of your first son and not from the second right? Did you have any placenta remains that caused ashermans or was it something else? Your hysteroscopies - were they operative or diagnostic? Was any sort of balloon used to try to keep the uterus walls open? Was you diagnosed the first time with severe ashermans? Did you get your period after surgery? Were you told you had adhesions and scar tissue in your uterus/cervix? And what about the cavity? Was it open? What about endometrium? Was it continuous or a little bit here and there? Are you considering surrogacy or adoption or nothing at the moment? Sorry so many questions but this is a big spreadsheet and I need to complete it. It is easier and quicker for me to ask everybody the questions as I go along rather than reading back on all emails to find my answers. Thanks for your patience. Guest guest
Jane, I do agree with you there that we all need to be our own advocate for every type of issue. After all, who will care more about us than ourselves? If we didn't care, we would not belong to this group!! , Sorry to sound stupid, but this journal you have talked about is it copies of your hospital medical files? What about the missing information, have you now retrieved the information.? Poly
