Dear Vicki,

Out of all the people who have written in on this subject I think there

was only one who said they got a bit better as they got older. Everyone else

has reported further deterioration. I am on that list as well.

Some have reported that they feel their hypermobility has decreased

somewhat but their problems have increased. 'Normal' hypermobility, the

flexible baby kind, decreases as the child grows. This is one of the things

that helps contortionists, they start training while the child still has

their baby flexibility and constantly train from there on out. I have read

that if they stop for any period of time they lose some of this flexibility

(not sure how true that is or if it is the same for all).

Once I started having major problems it seemed to progress like a

virus. It started with one knee and had progressed to include the other

knee, both elbows, both wrists, various fingers, right shoulder, left jaw

and both hips within 5 or 6 years. Ten years have now passed and now

included as well is my left shoulder, neck, left ankle and back. Basically

I'm fully affected. I keep waiting for my problems to peak and settle but it

hasn't happened and I'm beginning to believe it never will.

Sorry I can't give you a hopeful answer but remember, everyone is

different. That's some hope at least :-)

Hugs,

HEDS, New Jersey, USA
