Guest guest
Splenda is a sweetner that is made from sugar but not as many calories. It's not as much chemicals as Equal or Sweet-n-Low. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

Guest guest
Thanks Lyssa! I went to the Building 19 in Worcester last night, no luck. If I could just try a little tiny bit that'd be great I would just hate to order three boxes of it and not like it! Is there really no aftertaste, or is it a marketing ploy? I truthfully would rather not eat anything sweet at all than most of the sugarfree (nutrasweet/aspartame) stuff out there these days. F. Guest guest
, Thanks for the Splenda, I am rethinking going tomorrow night, all of my good friends won't be there. ( I really hope you are feeling better. Who knows, maybe I'll go and just leave right away. We should get together. Did you get the e-mail from Kara that she will be home next weekend? Let's try to get together Saturday. I know Sunday is Mother's Day so everyone but me will be busy! Guest guest
From what I read here lots of us use Splenda to cook with (I don't cook much), and I believe there are more and more sodas and other things made with it (don't drink soda). You have to read the labels. There are lots of great recipes in our shared files, which url is at the bottom of each message. Barb > Do any of you cook with Splenda? Guest guest
The question >Do any of you cook with Splenda? Also, are there other foods and sodas made with Splenda?< http://www.splenda.com/ and clicking on " product info " (LH side) then " products with Splenda " (RH side) will bring up a whole raft of products. Guest guest
Hello stbrettell@..., In reference to your comment: è I have done a little cooking with Splenda, and it seems è to hold up pretty well to heat. Keep in mind that the è bulk form is less concentrated than the Splenda that is è in packets. You measure the bulk one for one as è sugar. Don't try to make the chocolate cake recipe on the back of the box... i've done it 3 x and it is disgusting,

I've mainly tried to just stay away from sweets and stuff that needs carbohydrate substitutes. I'm too weak to deal with it. I love the taste of carbs, and some of the substitutes are close enough that they increase my cravings rather than decrease them. __________________________________________________

Guest guest
If you call the 800 number on the Splenda package, you can get all kinds of advice and a listing of products using Splenda - about 4 pages. Splenda doesn't work at all in some cases; for example, Splenda & egg whites will not whip up with any body for such things as merangines (spelt wrong of course). Splenda tolerates heat so it works in baking. >Do any of you cook with Splenda? Guest guest
<< what about the apple pie recipe on the back of one of the boxes? >> Do bear in mind that Splenda is also used by non-diabetics for weight control and also that not everyone believes in keeping carbs low for diabetic control. Therefore, they may print recipes on the Splenda box that are not necessarily diabetic-friendly. For instance, apples are quite high carb (and also high GI) and the crust in the pie is also high carb. So while they may be advocating Splenda as a sweetening agent in the pie, it's not necessarily going to keep your BGs low. Vicki
