Some states have mandatory coverage. Colorado and Oklahoma are 2 that do.

Kentucky requires that they cover cochlear implants. You'll find links to

those laws here:

http://www.listen-up.org/haidfund.htm

If any other states do, I would welcome the information. I do know that I've

heard from a number of folks who are working towards this.

Jo...You have such an evil mind and I love it!!! A barium enema or a

colonoscopy....they are both so horrible that I vote for both!!! Only

kidding, I wouldn't actually do anything to hurt Russ...but I do love the

idea of laughing with the " cough " pillow...I'll have to get a Three Stooges

movie/video for Russ post-surgery. See you Sunday, Annie

Welcome to the list Lea!!!

I think its a good idea to have to go to a support group meeting prior to

surgery so you get a good expectation (not to mention real excited lol)

about what the surgeon is all about. Thats great you've already lost 15 lbs

prior to surgery.

Good luck with the g/b u/s and uppergi. June is coming up fast .. I " ll be

one year post op on June 22 .. I cant believe it!

Looking forward to getting to know you better. Are you in Northern NH? I

live in Southern Nh.

Hello,I just joined this group and thouth I would give everyone a

littleintroduction. I am 3o yrs old, weigh 286 and have a BMI of 60. Ihave

been big all my life and I know that wls will help me outimmensely. I will

be having my surgery at Dartmouth-HitchcockMedical Center in Lebanon, NH.

The have a wls program there whereeven to be considered for surgery you have

to go to 4 supprot groupmeetings and lose 15 lbs. I have met both those

requirements. Ihave an appointment with my surgeon (Dr. Buchard) on April

17 andhopefully we will be able to schedule surgery when I am there. Ihave

medicaid for my insurance and I don't see a problem gettingapproval since I

have heard they are the easiest to get it from. Onthe 17th I will also have

a gall bladder utlrasound done and an uppergi. I am hoping to have surgery

at the end of June. I am activlyinvolved in our local head start program

and I have some commitmentswith them that I must keep befor that. Well I

know that this hadgotten long so I will end now.Lea

Welcome Lea! Sounds like you've got things under control! I don't know

of anyone on our list that has gone through this at Dartmouth-Hitchcock

Medical Center but it sounds like they have what you need -- a support

group in place to ensure you are ready before and then support you after.

We're here for you to answer questions and provide support also -- so feel

free to ask away!
