Guest guest
Thank you for the warm welcome! Hi everyone, I'm new here and just read alot of your posts and yes you all seem to be a very friendly group and am glad to meet you all. My first appointment was 2/16. I met with Dr. Reines who seems to very nice. Does anyone have any comments about him. It seems I hear alot about Dr. Thayer and not too much about Dr Reines. I'm sure he is just as good. I hope!!! lol-- I have another appointment tomorrow although I'm not quite sure why. I met with the psychologist on 2/16 Worth and I guess they just want me to really think about it. I guess they feel I'm not ready. But I am. Right now it seems I'm eating more than ever. I think maybe its stress or anxiety about this decision. Anyway I'm not totally sure about the complete process. But I guess I'll find out tomorrow what the next step is. I can relate to all the impatience as I'm already starting to be so myself. Right now my current weight is 262 and I hope to get a goal weight of 135. I haven't seen that weight since the 6th grade!! Anyway I want to thank you for welcome and I wish everyone pre-op and post op the best life has to offer. Thanks again

Guest guest
Dear , Well you found the right place!! You will not only connect with someone sharing stories & experiences but you have connected to many. Think the last count here was over 350 of us! Your story is like many, many others here. You are not alone in trying to deal with EDS in all it's facets. I do not have children myself but know there have been discussions here already on the topics you bring up about your daughter. There are people here who have been through this process with the schools and I'm sure they can offer you some help. Welcome aboard! Hugs, HEDS, New Jersey, USA
Guest guest
Welcome There are people > here who have been through this process with the schools and I'm sure they > can offer you some help. Welcome . Several EDSers helped me when I was going thru the IEP process a year ago. I am in the process of gathering a " help " packet for someone else and will forward it to you as soon as it is done (hopefully by Sun night, if nothing else interferes.....like THAT would never happen LOL) I'm also a speech l anguage pathologist and there are a couple of us on here now with EDS. I've worked in nursing homes so I have a " bit " of experience with the geriatric population and a " bit " with the kiddoes.... I do have lots and lots of swallowing difficulties experience, right Cameron? Bonnie

BTW- My son has many speech issues- seemingly all related to his low tone, and breath control. Thanks in advance, L. mom to Graham
Guest guest
I'll second that for sure. Hi ! Bonnie has been a great resource for me as we struggled to figure out why my youngest has been choking. is 5 now and has gone 8 months since he last needed the heimlich - this is a record since he started solid foods! Welcome to the group! I also live in Ontario and have 2 boys with IEP's. Both boys have HEDS and do I. Let me know if I can be of any help.
