Hi All:

So Darlene and I are "twins". Both of us had flu shots in 95 and it awakened a MonSter inside of us. Sounds like something from Sci-Fi Theater, doesn't it? :) I'm sorry to hear about your daughter, Darlene. What kind of symptoms is she having? As you know my daughter (Challis) has plenty of symptoms, but no dx yet. I would like her to have another MRI. Maybe she will see a new neuro soon. (hint, hint).

My son is 34 and he also has symptoms. He works out in the heat here in Arizona but has been on a big job recently where he had to spend long days out in the heat instead of just working the cooler morning hours. Our temps have been anywhere from 105 to 118. His feet started bothering him and they have been itching horribly and both feet are numb. That's been going on for a week now. He's very fatigued--more so than you would expect from hard physical labor in the sun.

How much do we all worry about our children and grandchildren having MS or another neurological disorder? In this household I have an 8 y/o granddaughter a who falls down a lot and loses her balance, another one (10 y/o) who complains of 'funny feelings' in her legs and an 11 y/o grandson who worries he has MS because his back aches. I had symptoms when I was a child so it's not out of the realm of possibilities.

I don't know what the experts now say the probabilities are of having family members with MS. But I've spoken with a lot of MSers who have a mother, child or sister with MS. I have a childhood friend who has MS and his brother had Guillain-Barré Syndrome, a very close 'relative' of MS. Years ago I started a local support group. There were 3 mother/daughter members and one who's grandfather had MS. This was in a group of only 12-15 members. I think that's pretty high stats.

What do you all think?

Vaccines cited as cause of neurological disorder

This is info on cases of Transverse Myelitis from Vaccines & Immunizations. (TM is often a precursor to an MS diagnosis):

The upper thoracic cord presented central areas of high signal intensity on T2 weighted images. Rapid clinical recovery was correlated with resolution of abnormal enhancement. Follow-up MR at 5 months showed persistence of slight T2 prolongation in the conus medullaris and syringohydromyela of the thoracic cord. A single lesion of the spinal cord is a rare

presentation of acute disseminated en! cephalomyelitis, the course of such lesions, to date not previously displayed by MR, is unknown. Proper diagnosis should help prevent administration of further vaccine doses.

I'm in the same club but I joined a few years later!

I am just hoping and praying that Robbin doesn't have any of this, he has enough to deal with as it is. I know that he did inherit his body type from his Dad, Thank God/dess!!! I would Hate for him to have to go through life with the same body issues I have had to deal with. SO I am hoping maybe he also got his Father's good health and constitution.

Peace and Blessings
