Guest guest
Kay- Just one more question. With regard to an FM unit for EMily in school. Do all schools have a trained audiologist to fit this and maintain it and make sure it is used correctly? Am I right in saying that it isn't something you can just plop on a kid's head and be done? You can tell I am real green at doing this can't you? God Bless. Lori __________________________________________________

When JD was in a public school they contracted with a local audiologist to adjust the settings. She couldn't do that for about 2 weeks after the school finally got a unit for him. They wanted him to wear the unit before she adjusted it, but I wouldn't allow it. > Am I right in saying that it > isn't something you can just plop on a kid's head and > be done? Very true, expecially the ones that have amplification built into them. It would be like wearing an unadjusted hearing aid. > You can tell I am real green at doing this > can't you? You're not as green as you thing. You are asking questions and trying to find the answers to do what is right for your daughter instead of assuming the schools always do the right thing. With any luck, yours will surprise you and do what they think is best. Unfortunately not all schools are like that and you have to go in prepared for that.
