Guest guest
How did you celebrate the 4th of July? well, now you'll all know just how boring a life I live............... Went to HEB for weekly grocery shopping, got car filled up with gas, came home and cooked a late lunch or early dinner, sat around and tried to think of stuff to pack for IRD, watched TV and was in bed by 8:30 pm. So much excitement......surprised my heart could take it. LOL Love & Hugs, ( MWDW@... )#TX 1743, ville
Guest guest
How did you celebrate the 4th of July? Mowed the lawn, used the weedeater, swept off driveway and porches, which all took a total of 2 hours and 45 minutes. Then did 20 minutes of swimming in the pool, followed by about 20 minutes of floating around. Made dinner...grilled chicken, marinated in baja chipotle sauce... threw some fresh mushrooms on the grill, too, and made a huge salad with several different varieties of lettuce, carrots, onions, radishes, and tossed with caesar vinaigrette parmesean dressing. Also heated a can of baked beans for the rest of the family. Went to Fort Hood to watch the fireworks and festivities with thousands of other people. There's just nothing like celebrating Independence Day with our nation's soldiers and their families.... there's also nothing quite like the traffic jams and crowds! We had to park about a mile away and carry our blankets and chairs. Once we got situated, my daughter and I walked around for about an hour, to include back and forth on a section of the one mile track surrounding the outside of the stadium. It was partially blocked off, so we couldn't walk the whole way around, but we walked back and forth on it enough times to make up for it. The fireworks display was awesome, and went on forever! We didn't get back home until after 11 p.m. Had a surprise waiting for us on the porch. An old, sad-looking but friendly dog. I'm hoping that the noise of neighboring farms shooting off fireworks just scared him away from his home... we're making calls today to see who he belongs to. Someone better not have dumped this old guy off on purpose! I had no idea that today was a holiday for my hubby, but he's home, wondering what we're gonna do today. Have a wonderful week and make healthy decisions! Hugs, Janet
Guest guest
cleaned up some of the yard and got old branches and stuff ready for the trash men, which they didnt take it all, so had to refill the barrels. guess they didnt like picking it up off the ground. BBQ hamburgers with grandson and little baby who I chased around the yard for a while. she was a funny little thing trying to walk barefoot she looked like she was walking on glass, and then put shoes on her and she ran all over.watched the fireworks from Fort Hood on TV, channel 4 , so didnt get into crowds. Guest guest
Didn't do much yesterday. Went to HEB to buy something to grill out last night. Rented and watched to rerelease of independence day. The added footage is interesting. What I really did special this weekend was went on a date with my husband on Saturday to the drive in movies. I ate too much popcorn but the movies were good. We had fun. Levona QotD #59 How did you celebrate the 4th of July?EMAIL TEXAS-STYLE!!
Guest guest
I stayed the weekend at a friends house so we had a great time all weekend long. Friday night we had dinner and started to watch a movie but I passed out from the medication for my "bum" neck. They want me to take this 3 times a day? I don't think so! I'm taking it at bed time. That's the best I can do. Saturday I went to a birthday party for my best friends daughter Ciera. She just turned 2 and she's so cute. It was at a pizza place. We had a blast. I think went home and showered and changed for another gathering with some friends close to downtown Houston. We played Pop Culture Trivial Pursuit for hours! Sunday, July 4th, we went to lunch and then left at 4:30 for the Freedom Festival downtown. There were 65,000 people there and boy was it crowded and hot! It wasn't too bad after you got used the heat, which I did, and there was lots of shade if you wanted a break. We toured all of the little booths and radio station tents and etc. and I only had water and a Diet Coke. I did NOT eat out there. Too expensive and too fattening for sure. The show started at 7 (why did we get there 2 hours early dang it????) and we saw The Judds in concert. Never thought I would see them in my life, never had any inkling to see them, but after seeing them I'm glad I did. They were awesome and I was surprised at how much of their music I knew. The fireworks started at 9:15 and they were amazing. Disney put it on so I didn't care for the music too much, and I didn't think they lasted long enough, but it was still an awesome sight and a great way to spend the 4th. We will do it next year too but this time get there LATER! I kept saying why don't they move Independence Day to a later month like October when it's not so hot! LOL! We walked at least 5 miles yesterday and I will count that on my exercise totals because that was a lot of walking. Especially to and from the car. I hope you all had a great weekend and have a great week!YOUR TOPS PAL with 600 e-mails to go through, -----Original Message-----From: Hamilton-Feeser Sent: Monday, July 05, 2004 10:18 AMTo: TexasTOPS Subject: QotD #59 How did you celebrate the 4th of July?EMAIL TEXAS-STYLE!! Guest guest
I played hooky from church (teacher and almost all class were going to be out, and choir took off the month of July), which is something I very rarely do. Otherwise I stayed in PJs and lazed all day long. (Didn't have to worry about being tempted on the wrong foods.) Now Friday I met with former co-workers for lunch at Olive Garden. They have an all you eat salad and soup lunch with breadsticks. I had 1 bread stick NO BUTTER, two salad helpings and 2 soup helpings. The salad automatically comes with Italian dressing and loaded with croutons. Yes I love croutons but I didn't get that many. The soup I had was Minestrone because I like vegetable soup more than any other soup and the better of the 3 choices available. It did have shell pasta in it but not really that much. I drink ice tea more than anything (remember my NON WATER kick) so I can at least have a non carbonated water base drink that has no calories even if I add the PINK STUFF to it. (Sweet 'N Low) Saturday me and my little one went to Waffle House. I did have a burger with the vegetable works and cheese and bacon with Hashbrowns on the side (they don't serve French Fries) but I had my tea. That was my biggest meal all day and I tried to keep it toned as much as possible. Didn't really eat much the 4th as I mentioned earlier and today, so far, I had 1 buttered toast, a raisin cinnamon english muffin, both with Country Crock spread, Dt. Dr Pepper, a slice of cheese in addition to a grill cheese sandwich and yes TEA!!!! Actually working at cleaning the house, at least the rooms visitors see. Guest guest
I spent the 4th riding the train from Rusk to Palestine and back to Rusk. We actually made a weekend of it ~~my youngest daughter, my wonderful son-in-love and their almost teenage daughter and my best friend, Sumkio. We went up on Saturday, Stopped at the Factory Outlet store in Livingston and got to Rusk before noon. We roamed around town awhile, then drove to ville (they have the closest Walmart) While there I called , then drove out to her house and had a wonderful, but short visit with her. We had dinner at a Mexican food place that had suggested (it was really good, ) then went back to Rusk. Did the train ride the next day then drove to League City to drop off Sumiko and on to Pearland. After I got in my car at my daughter's house, I checked my phone and saw that one of my son's had called. When I called him back he wanted to know where in the heck I was. Everyone else was at my oldest daughter's house for my Great-granddaughter's first birthday party. (she is our little firecracker). So though I was tired I stopped by there for a few minutes. Got home and went straight to bed. I had to work today and though I don't have to be there until 8 am (I am 7 minutes from work) I get up at 4:30. Which brings us back to tonight ~~ it's off to bed for me. Four thirty comes really, really early.
Guest guest
How did you celebrate the 4th of July? We had a wonderful 4th. My son and his family came down and went to church with us Sunday morning. My Mom was able to attend also. Our church had a special 4th of July BBQ on the Blanco River after services were over. The weather was absolutely gorgeous and we had fun swimming, tubing the rapids and eating (way too much.) Hugs, Deanna
