Guest guest
I sent you ~ privately ~ the pic I took in the bathroom mirror...yes, falling is emotionally painful as well as physically painful. There was nobody around to help me up so I rolled over and stuck my rear in the air and walked my feet and hands together till I could stand up, like a tee-pee. Funny thing is I *was* on my way to the Dr. when it happened!!! And for no good reason, I just fell, kaboom, didn't trip or anything! I really AM one of the lucky ones, though, most days I can still drive, and though I now use a scooter at the store I can still pick out the foods that I want to cook, and can still cook. The heat does kick my derriere, though, and even though I can drive I have my limits, I go to the store, maybe two or on e real good day even three, but I stay within limits and don't push myself too hard or I pay for it later!!! Guest guest
That's always been my "joke".... the fear that I would fall and everyone would see my hiney. And it has happened that way more than once. One time several years ago (before I got so bad) I walked up to the animal pens to feed the cow, the goats, the llamas and the rabbits. I was alone with my grandkids and they were helping me. All of a sudden --whoosh! I was on my back. It was super fast like falling on ice --only this was on the hard rocky ground in the high desert of Arizona. My grandkids were very upset. If I fall on my front I can get up like you did, Akiba, with hiney in the air for all to see. But I was flat on my back. I had the wind knocked out of me big time. I just lay there trying not to let the grandkids see my tears (Grandma--are you crying??? No, of course not, the sun is in my eyes). I was wondering what on earth I was going to do? The ground was so hard and I was like a bug on it's back. Then my old dog, Petunia, came over to me and stood next to me blinking her eyes at me. I reached up and grabbed her collar, she braced herself and let me pull myself up to a sitting position. Then I held her collar and I was able to pull myself over so I was on my knees. Ouch! Those rocks are tough on knees. But then by holding Petunia's collar I was able to pull myself up to a standing position. Now I am getting teary because my loyal Petunia has injured her hips. I think she ran too much outside several days ago. I gave her glucosamine yesterday and she had some tylenol. She has been crying when she walks. I will take her to the vet if it doesn't get better. She's a red lab mixed with German Shepherd. She's 12 years old. hugs))) Sharon Sharon (MSersLife Group Owner/Creator) It's not easy taking my problems one at a time when they refuse to get in line. ~Ashleigh Brilliant Takes the Cake... Guest guest
Akiba,……..this is exactly the way my falls have happened. After the last one I decided I wouldn’t walk without holding on to something because I never knew what was causing me to fall. A couple times when I fell I could feel myself falling but its like my brain didn’t engage to tell my arms to break it. None with my bum in the air, but I still needed help up. Had to call the neighbor once to help Steve get me up, and my daughter and boyfriend helped once, and the fire dept.’s hunky gorgeous men were called when I hit my head on the side of the tub. 5 of them carried me to the ambulance. I kept apologizing to them for being so heavy, and I think I even told one of them he was sooooooo handsome. Lol….. I haven’t fallen in a couple years now……..knock on wood! Guest guest
I sometimes really need to use the carts, but haven't had the guts to yet. I am such a clumsy person. DH calls me "Grace" a lot. I'm afraid to ride them, because I might run into stuff. I am also worried that someone will be rude and make a stupid comment, and will embarrass me. If I feel too weak to walk, or dizzy and stumble, I just stay home. But, that is really getting old. I think I need to "take the plunge", and just try one. I hate being in prison in my own home. I think I need a little more of your spunky attitude Akiba. When I hit my 30's, I acquired a new spunky tude, and dropped the meek crap. I seem to care less what people think, the older I get. LOL.
