Guest guest
--- Hi Cheryl, Yes i do have TMJ problems too. I grind and clench my teeth at night and i suffer a lot of headaches, jaw and neck pain which is mostly on the left hand side of my body. I was given a mouthguard to wear at night but since the beginning of my ortho treatment this doesn't fit anymore. Also the mouthguard didn't actually work too well - probably because my bite is so bad? I don't know. Anyway i have another appointment with the clinic so i'll let them know. How far are you into your treatment? What are they going to do for you? Guest guest
Thanks for the reply, Anne-Marie, You, myself and Donna have very similar stories (please excuse my terrible grammar!) I have the same complaints as you. I've been in braces (2nd time around)for about 8 months now, with upper jaw surgery and genio hopefully in June or July (no solid date yet, *sigh*). My already open bite has been made worse by the orthodontia, and I currently only *meet* on the last molar. On the bright side, my migraines have been vastly improved either by the braces or by the fact that I now can only eat soft foods and liquids! I have another ortho appointment next Thursday and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he'll send me to the oral surgeon to get my surgery date. Like many other people on this site, my life is currently on hold pending a date. It may seem like you have a very long haul in front of you but the time does pass quickly. I have leaned heavily on the people that I have met through this site for emotional and practical support. Glad to have you aboard! And also to the other new people! Guest guest
, I would love to see you. Thanks for the kind invitation. Maybe we could meet halfway one day when we're both fully recuperated? Here's to a hurricane free season! Cheryl
Guest guest
I second that! When are you due? I got my bands on the molars Wed. Boy are they sore! Been mashing everything on the palate for 2 days. Good news is the ortho says I will be ready on time! So far so good. Guess I shouldn't get my hope up as others before me have ended up playing the waiting game. Where in Miami are you? I absolutely adore Parrot Jungle! > , > > I would love to see you. Guest guest
, I'm just a hop, skip, and a jump from Parrot Jungle. Do you know where the Falls Shopping Center is? I'm very near that area (southwest miami). Sorry about the molars. Hate when that happens. Can you remind me about your surgery date? And which one you're having? I apologize but I have a hard time keeping everyone straight here... I know all about the " orthognathic math " as we call it. I was supposed to be ready for upper jaw surgery in early June....then mid July and now " sometime in August " . I've only had my braces on for nine months so far. This is my second time around in braces, I had them for a couple of years in my teens. Try some aleve and a glass of wine (if you're over 21 of course.) I hope that the pain passes shortly. Guest guest
Haven't heard of Parrot Jungle but I've had some good times at Bayside!! I hope it all works out for you and that " sometime in Aug " means just that. Neta-lee > , > > I'm just a hop, skip, and a jump from Parrot Jungle. Do you know > where the Falls Shopping Center is? Guest guest
Hi Neta-lee, Glad you liked Bayside! Did you make it to Coconut Grove or Lincoln Road? There are lots of interesting places in Miami. Hmmm, you're making me think that maybe I am spending way too much time out here in suburbia with my kids. Maybe I can talk my husband into going dancing one night soon. The only problem is that we can barely manage to stay awake through a 10:00PM movie these days... Cheryl
Guest guest
Cheryl, Didn't travel around Miami much because I was working on cruise ships at the time and Bayside just happend to be close to the port. But yes, you should get out there!! Go dancing, something...I sometimes need to be dragged out too but always enjoy myself when I'm finally out. Neta-lee > Hi Neta-lee, > > Glad you liked Bayside!
