They censor for language....poor Markus kept getting nailed for that....Then he would correct his language and repost and was told he couldn't repost the same post...I never quite understood that one. I actually like to swear....Yeah--I have an awful mouth at times---but I have managed to tame it down....hahaha--it just looks to stupid to write " stuff " when you really mean " shit, " etc. I have only had a couple pulled. They were said to be off topic in the folder they were in. gets nailed a lot I guess...he would have to give you the particulars on those.... Where Markus and I, both, ran into trouble a while back was in a folder titled " drug addiction. " It seems that even though the title of the board did not denote that it was a 12 step forum, participants seemed to think that it was. When something was posted that was not in line with their " 12 step " view then they would criticize the commentary, like the input had no merit. When the criticism went the other way...then we were reminded that this was not the discussion and debate board. The last time I knew that I would probably get nailed for my curt response to someone....I put a note at the end of the post saying to the AARF that I understood why she might pull the post, but if she did that I hoped that she would be fair enough to pull the equally rude post that initiated my response....she left them both that time.... I don't think one should have to point out inequities such as this.....It is AOL's message board--I don't care if they want to be strict as long as the rules apply equally to everyone. I had to laugh reading another board the other night and seeing someone complaining about how the board is changing and how they wish that the SMART people would post in their own folder and they would read it if they were interested....trouble was, once again, this was the general " alcoholism " board not one designated for 12 step recovery. Then someone posted something with the title " AA vs RR " and the context was actually not bad...it was a woman saying that she saw things she related to in many of the alternative approaches as well as some things that *she* liked about AA. A few people responded and the content was not argumentative at all, IMO....then the AARF posted something telling people to take it to the debate and discussion board and she would leave these posts but pull any others like them. No one was debating....it was lame....I wonder about the ability of some of those with the authority to pull posts for discerning what is " on topic " at times. Hahaha...what I really find to be a pain in the ass is when you have to knock it off...or you decide to drop it and the person who didn't agree with what you said continues to email you with their comments. I have had this happen and blocked the mail from the person because they were acting like an idiot, IMO. It must have killed the dude to not have the last word....LOL. I am really hoping that Peele works out a deal with them...this would be good....In my correspondence, I mentioned some other authors as well. I guess we just have to see where it goes.... I had a heck of a time finding stuff I'd saved. Darn it, I'd love to write some stuff for them to censor! My guess is that a collection of censored-out contributions would provide a very good introduction to and explanation of recovery-from-recovery. It would probably make a good chapter in a book. And a very readable web page. " What AOL didn't want you to read! " . Guest guest
. .some of us are more than willing to do something to help but don't know where to start. . .I support and applaud your efforts and I am in a better position to fight because there is nothing the system can take from me. I don't think they can send my husband to jail or take his license forever because of my actions. . . but then again maybe they can.
