Guest guest
Hello Poly I have a boisterous 3yr old who wouldn’t let me sit and work on the computer that’s why I coulnt reply to you sooner. Well,I got ashermans due to repeated D & Cs I had in 1997/98.it was due to the carelessness on my husbands side that I became pregnant twice when I didn’t want it. And novelon is a contraceptive pill. mina -----Original Message----- From: Poly Spyrou Sent: Thursday, August 10, 2000 4:05 PM To: Ashermansegroups Subject: Mina Dear Mina, Welcome to our group. I received your email but had to download something for the arabic language in order to view it. I wonder if other members have had to do this too to read your email? Well, I wanted to ask you if you know how you got ashermans, was it a result of retained placenta from your living child? Or was it from the D & C's you had in 1997 and 1998? Why did you have these D & C's? Is Novelon an antibiotic? I need to ask you lots of questions because your case seems a little complicated. I'm not sure I understand some points. Can I ask you these questions and also add you on the spreadsheet so that it is easier for me and others to remember your particular circumstances? Guest guest
Hello Mina, Thanks for your reply and clearing up why you have had D & C's. Your case is an example of a wanted abortion where ashermans can occurr. You are a good example of what can go wrong in an abortion and I wonder if you would have gone through with it had the doctor given you the choice of knowing this could happen. But they never do and although I and others in this group could have been told that we could develop ashermans, we basically never had a choice in the matter!! Have you ever had a hysteroscopy to see what the condition of your uterus looks like and to see what chances of success you have in achieving a pregnancy? You never told me if you would like to be added on the spreadsheet. If you do, I will email you privately some questions for you to answer. Please let me know. Guest guest
Hi Poly, Yes I had to undergo treatment for ashermans once the gyn.discovered it by inserting the dye. I had hysteroscopy operation on 27thnov.1999.after which I was put on hormonal treatment. The doc removed the iud which she inserted after the operation in feb.2000 and she told me to get prepared for another baby very soon.she advised me to start trying for the baby right away as the lining was excellent but un fortunately we had to transfer back to the base and I couldt see her anymore. The doctors here are very vague and after trying for 6mnths to get preg.i have still not succeeded.the other day anew doctor saw me and told me the lining is very thin [2.1mm] Iam 32 .do you think I still can have another baby? The doctor who did my operation gave me a video cassette she recorded of my operation and I could later see the instrument cutting the adhesions.i didn’t understand the film very well and it sort of put me off to see the blood and everything in the film. But she explained with drawing as well and told me I had good chances but now after 6 mnths Im not so sure Anyway,I would very much like to be added to the spread sheet. mina Re: Mina Hello Mina, Thanks for your reply and clearing up why you have had D & C's. Guest guest
Mina, Do you know how thick your lining was at the time your doctor told you the lining was excellent? With a lining of 2.1mm it is extremely difficult to get pregnant. Do you know at what stage of your cycle you had the scan to see the thickness of 2.1mm? If it was just after a period, then it is natural that the lining would be that thin. If it was just before you got a period, then that is very thin. You need at least a lining of 8mm. Even if you do get pregnant with 2.1mm, there may be a chance that you will miscarry so I would advise you to wait until your lining thickens before you attempt to get pregnant. Are you on any hormones now? What did your doctor prescribe you after the surgery? and what dose? and for how long? I have sent you privately the questions for the spreadsheet and hope you can answer them tomorrow so that I can add you on the latest spreadsheet. Thanks and take care. Guest guest
Hi Poly, Actually I didn’t bother to ask her the measurement at that time.I was so glad that it was over that nothing she told me made any sense to me that particular time. I recently visited the doctor when I was ovulating when she checked me and told me that the lining measures 2.1mm. Tomorrow I am going for some tests. I had full 03 months course of hormones after the surgery but I don’t remember the dosage. I have answered your questions. If anything you don’t understand pl. let me know. I thankyou for starting this group Poly, MINA -----Original Message----- From: Poly Spyrou Sent: Saturday, August 12, 2000 12:56 AM To: Ashermansegroups Subject: Re: Mina Mina, Do you know how thick your lining was at the time your doctor told you the lining was excellent? Iam sorry I was not able to answer you earlier cos my husband has again been transferred to another city and we are busy relocating. I haven’t been able to see that doc but called her on the phone and she gave me a vague answer but I will be going to a specialist soon and will keep posted about the developments . Pl.excuse if I delay in answering but I hope to get settled in my new home beginning of next month. Lotsa hugs , Mina Mina, Did you ever find out what your lining was? If is was 2.1mm?
