Guest guest
I had HPV about 7 years ago (my first sexual experience) and it was only exteriorly on the vestibule opening. I also contracted trichamonas and a yeast infection from this JERK. Anyways, I've had this problem (recently diagnosed as Vulvar Vestibulitis ever since). The HPV was removed by some kind of acid (used topically) and I remember going back to this Dr. for multiple visits to have them removed. I haven't had any recurrence of them clinically or histologically but I'm at the end of my rope w/ this vv. Nothing works. I've tried antifungals, anti-depressants, acidopholus, boric acid vaginally, etc. Every lab test comes back negative for yeast. And i have also had colpolscopy biopsys of my cervix that came back w/ in normal limits. All paps are normal too. Does anyone know if the treatment i had for the HPV could be linked w/ possible nerve damage? Like a correlation w/ the acid and the nerves? My boyfriend is about to leave me. Our sex life is non-existant and we're growing further apart. I just want to be normal again .....I would love to hear any comments, advice..Thank you all. This list is wonderful! --Jodi
Guest guest
>Does anyone know if the treatment i had for the HPV >could be linked w/ possible nerve damage? Like a >correlation w/ the acid and the nerves? Jodi, I believe that my vv began after being treated for HPV with the acid you are talking about. I remember going back three times and every time the acid was applied I cried afterwards and could not sit for hours. The pain was horrible, emotionally and physically. I definitely believe that there is a correlation between nerve damage and the acid applied. I think it may be trichloracetic (Sp?). I can't remember. Before I was treated with this acid I was having a perfectly normal sex life with my boyfriend. Then suddenly a month after treatment sex began to hurt. Slowly at first, then gradually worse until we couldn't even attempt it. The acid is used to burn off the warts which I believe took layers of healthy skin off as well. The skin in the area where I was treated has never fully recovered and grown back. My pain is in the vestibule between 3 and 9 o'clock. When I first began seeing my gyn the pain extended higher than 9 and 3 o'clock. I have been on Desipramine 50 mg since November and the pain is slowly retreating. So I definitely think that the nerves may have been damaged by the acid. I also think that the estrogen creams may help me in my condition. Have you tried them yet? I have been using premarin, prescribed to me by a previous doctor, every other day. My current gyn said that on my next visit he is going to prescribe estrace with olive oil from a compound pharmacy for me to try. I believe that between the desipramine and estrace/premarin I will get better. It is just going to take some time. I have had vv for the past 4 years so I am really hoping that I can get rid of this before I get married. My fiance has been with me since this horror began, we got engaged over Christmas. He saw a doctor after I was treated for HPV and he did not have it. It is believed by 2 doctors I have seen since then that I did not have HPV at all. I was treated by my college health center upon a visit to get bc pills. The college health center over prescribed antibiotics for everything and I think the gyn they brought in once a month was not very knowledgeable to say the least. I am so sorry to hear how this is affecting your relationship with your boyfriend. I do wish you the best. I am also sorry that I can't provide more help than my story. At least you know that you are not the only one who is going through this. Now that I know other women have had the same results from this acid as I have I am going to look into this more thoroughly. Keep me posted on your situation. Larissa __________________________________________________
