(or was it Dottie who wrote this?),

I've had right hip pain that I think comes from my fibroids. I'm a physical

therapist, and my self diagnosis is that the fibroids inhibit the abdominal

muscles which changes the way the pelvis sits over the hip socket and so

causes problems (and they tilt the pelvis forward, like we're pregnant)

Also, they can press on the iliopsoas muscle that rests on the front of the

spine and goes to the inner aspect of the hip and this muscle is a major

culprit in hip problems. Though hip pain could be referred from the uterus.

I've also had leg numbness and wonder if that's fibroids too. Carol

I get pain in my right hip, too, and more rarely, a pain down my right leg.

If I go to the bathroom, the pain diminishes and sometimes disappears

entirely, as if more room had been freed up in the pelvic area. Anyone else

find a correlation in their experience?

I was just recently diagnosed ...have had mild hip " stiffness " on and off the

past year that I previously thought was an old injury (minor one) ...now I

think there may be another cause...makes sense that the body is striving in

usual fashion to create equilibrium.

  • 2 months later...

For the record, I've also experienced a lot of hip pain in the past couple

of years, sometimes can hardly walk. It seems to come and go quite

mysteriously, and I've often thought it was due to fibroids compressing

structures and tightening muscles. I'll have my myo Dec 11 and am curious to

see if it goes away.
