Guest guest
All doctors are not horrible, I feel I must say. (Since I'm the one who wrote the angry letter). But you need to do some shopping. Also, if Allan really is open, I agree with the previous letter, let him tolerate our understandable anger and frustration, realizing it came from mistreatment and not being believed. Then, if he is going to work with VV women, he will be equipped by that attitude. Also, learn to believe anecdotal evidence if it continues to pile up. As one well known researcher said, it's Russian roulette to ignore anecdotal evidence and wait the number of years requried until it is totally proved. For example, pesticides have been correlated with breast cancer. Steingraber wrote an entire book linking the two. But the heads of major herbicide and pesticide corporations sit on the American Cancer Society board. (See last Sierra Club magazine for more data). Therefore, the ACS does not put out any information about the link between BC and pesticide/herbicides. If we wait for the data to link these two things, many women may die. Of course, VV doesn't kill you, but the principle is the same. Believe the patient until proved otherwise. Another example: I am hypothyroid, but my tests did not show it. I was freezing, gaining weight, etc. Alternative physicians believe hypothyroidism starts years before it shows on tests, and use body temperature to diagnose. In standard medicine, however, many people are not given thyroid who have numerous symptoms and a family history of hypothyroidism. Finding the right physician, I'm slim, warm, and not falling asleep at 8 P.M.! I'm talking about an attitude, an attitude that will help the MD who really wants to be of great service to people who suffer.
