Can anyone tell me what are workshops and what do you do at one. I

have heard that there are some, but nobody that I know of in South

Texas has been to one. Also can anyone attend one, and how do you

find out where there is going to be one.

Thanks

Carolyn

>>>AWESOME CAROLYN WROTE>>>Can anyone tell me what are workshops and what do you do at one. Hi Carolyn,

I'll make an attempt at answering your question... I don't know the formal TOPS definition of a workshop, but from the two that I've been to, I gather that workshops are a meeting of TOPS members from your area (although members from other areas are of course welcome!), where among many other things, information is exchanged regarding any new information at area, region, or national level. Often, the Area Coordinator will conduct a program and/or have special guests to present one. I went to one last year and special guests included Sharon Schwenker and Benny Weber, the 2002 Texas State Queen and King. We heard their stories and got to talk to them one-on-one. If you've had the opportunity to meet either of these two wonderful people, you know what I delight it is to interact with them. At that workshop, we also took magazines along with us and did a project that helped us to get to know ourselves a bit more. There's always a wealth of information shared at the workshops.... at the one yesterday, I took almost 7 pages of notes!

Hmmmm....I'm not sure where exactly you're located, but any info regarding a workshop in your area will be sent to your chapter's leader from your Area Coordinator. As far as hearing about workshops in other areas... I guess that's just by word-of-mouth on these email lists and message boards. All members in our area have been invited to the workshops that I've attended. Occasionally, our area coordinator conducts 'Weight Recorder Workshops'. I've never been to one of those. Weight recorders do practice weight charts, resumes, etc. from what I gather.

(((hugs))) and blessings,

Janet
