I think that this women is full of BS. Does do well with transitions?

I can't see two aids working out well unless this type of thing doesn't

bother him. has two different teachers and we had no problems with

that transition.

I am educating myself on special education. Don't let them make you feel

guilty about the cost that's what we pay taxes for. Don't let emotion into

this. Get the facts and learn as much as you can about your sons rights.

That's exactly what they told us at this class. Even though you're the

parent during ISPs you have to blank out certain things. For example if they

say behavioral problem, or strong willed you're suppose to just let that go

and not upset you.

she identified herself I picked up because I thought something might be wrong

Yup, me too!!!! Watch out for her, I wouldn't trust her at all!!!

Next time you talk to her let her know your taking notes of your

conversation, so that you'll properly remember everything, that may

help keep HER memory intact as well.

I've already checked that out. In Alberta, it's legal if one of the parties

knows the conversation is being taped. It's not legal to tape a conversation

where neither participant knows it's being taped. So legally, I can tape all my

phone calls.

Yeah, she was out of line.

Due to the recent teacher's strike and back to work legislation, things are very

tense here. The gov has basically told schools and teachers that they can't

have any money for school improvements and that they have no legal right to

complain about class sizes and conditions. I found out later that she had just

returned from a union meeting before she called me. I think she was feeling

much resentment about the current situation and took it out on me. Doug says

she's like that. I'll be watching her very carefully from now on. I've been

reading up on special education law and funding in Alberta and I'll be ready for

her next time. I've also had a chat with my lawyer, the same one I consulted

last year when 's teacher told me the school board was cutting funding for

's Aide (they weren't, she overheard a conversation and over-reacted). No

one messes with my kid.

Do the teachers feel it's OK to verbally abuse parents in the States, too?

I think the principal was totally out of line. Do you have a Special Needs

Liaison officer in your school board? I have one here, and when I have a

problem right through the school hierarchy, he gets called in to observe and

settle the dispute. Of course, I got reprimanded by 's teacher the last

time I brought him in...

What your principal did was inexcuseable.

Every spring the school board starts planning it's buget for the next year.

That's when teachers and administrators start telling me how expensive 's

program is costing. And every year after ranting and complaining, they plan his

program and fund it and we go on as before. It's really the only time I have

trouble with them.

It always comes down to money. Sigh
