Just curious... I'm having surgery on Tuesday, April 25, with Dr. Thayer.

think I would like to also put a before picture on the list. Maybe you could

help me with that. The before and after pics are a great idea. I think

Pam's journey book is also a great idea. I'm getting really excited just

thinking about the future. I'm so glad to have found this site. Thank you

for creating it. What a great bunch of people here!!

Hi Kim,

Thats great!!! Maybe we'll have the same room!!! Is your's also at 8am? Are

you going to a pre-op meeting? I signed up for the 4/25 meeting but I might

change to the May 30 one if its still available. I have to check with office

tomorrow. Anyway YAY, so glad to have someone at the same time as me. And

yes, we can walk together!!

Were you at the group meeting last Thurs? I was but only got to meet a few

people. I don't think I met you but if you go to the May 3 one I'll be there

so we'll get to meet and chat ok?

Awesome Nance! Won't be long now. I'll be a one year post op myself on June

22, and June 5 is my daughter's 2nd birthday so we know thats a good day for

you! Make sure you put the info in the calendar if you know how, or if you

want! If you need help let me know ..

June 5, unless there is a cancellation and maybe it will be a little

earlier.

I didn't expect that it would take 4 months but I'm just glad to finally

something to look forward to and now I'm getting psyched!! Have pre-op

testing May 31 and will be attending one of the pre-op meetings before then.

I want to congratulate all of the new post ops!!! And wishing you all a

Sure do you have a scanner? Or a pic of yourself already saved on as a file

on your computer? If so email it to me & I can add it for you. If not if you

want to snail mail me a photo I can scan it in & put it up .. this goes for

everyone else too. I have some other files I have to get up soon ..

Hi Lyssa,

Your welcome. I agree, now that I have a date I feel more motivated to get

physically and mentally prepared. It give me about six weeks and I know I

can lose atleast 10 lbs by then, which will be better for surgery. I guess

not knowing kinda made me more anxious and it was more difficult to focus on

the losing. It'll be easier as the pressure is off.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to attend the last 2 NW meetings because we're

buying a house, and everything seems to fall on a thursday. I *WILL*

be there May 3 I'm bringing my mother & husband. Yes my surgery

is also at 8 a.m. so you will also get to watch me get nervous as heck

Maybe we will have the same room...boy that would be so much better

than being with a total stranger...this way I'd feel comfortable enough

to yell at you to turn the darn tv down LOL.

Yeaahhh baby...CBS soaps rock!!! We won't have TV conflicts

The only reason I mentioned it...when my youngest was 6 mos. old she was

in the hospital for RSV for a few days... of course, being the very protective

mum I am, I didn't leave her for a minute---the hospital was very overcrowded

and we were in a room with 3 other beds---all full! There were only

2 TVs though... and of course I was in the corner with no TV...the bed

next to me was occupied by a young hispanic girl---with a very big, very

loud, very deaf family. They kept the TV BLARING on UNI 24-7... and

had at least 3 visitors around the clock. It wasn't bad enough that

there was nothing on the TV that I understood (though by the end of the

stint I had a good grasp of conversational spanish), I was practically

deafened. I'm a terrible sleeper as it is, I like only silence or

white noise at night. I couldn't sleep the whole time. It seems

I've always gotten s**tty luck in hospital rooms, and I know for certain

the one thing I'm not going to want is some annoying stranger in the bed

next to me LOL. Of coursem they said they try very hard to give us

private rooms...but it'll be nice to have someone to visit with while we're

both incarcerated LOL

Hi Kim,

Yeah, I think you should call and let them know you will be going. There is

a sheet that they gave me with the dates and it says you should call and let

them know. There is also a charge of $25 which most insurances will cover.

called me today to confirm, so they may want to make sure how many

I will be going to the pre-op meeting in May (though I haven't made an

appointment? Wasn't aware I needed one though---maybe a call is in

order?)...too much going on this next week...wacky stuff. I'll see

you at the May 4 meeting anyway We really should say "Hey, yo

.... if you must put us in a semi-private room, please put us together"

They might honor that request.

Sounds like this will be a party

hee hee but it will be nice if you are in together to at least walk or visit

one another for motivation to each other .. When I had my surgery at the

time this list wasn't formed and I asked the nurses there was there any

other rny patients on the floor. I wanted to go visiting .. but they told me

no .. then LATER I found out a girl had it either the day before or after me

& was there .. poop! I would have liked to have met her .. I didn't find

this out until a few months later at the support group meeting at NWH when

she came over & said we were only a day apart.

Hmphf! Oh well .. anyway I think its GREAT when you can go in & have a buddy

like that.
