Guest guest
A co-worker had a myomectomy at Kaiser (in Roseville) and it turned into a hysterectomy, but who's not to say that she wouldn't have had the same outcome if she had the surgery done elsewhere? As long as you've done your research, I'm sure you'll be fine. Have you interviewed this doctor and found his answers and success rates to be excellent? If so, you should be confident with your decision.
Guest guest
Roseville, Cal? Did the doctor told her why the surgery was converted into hyst.? I interviewed my doctor, he has less than 2% rate of converting myo into hyst.? And he also gave me the reasons what happend to those cases. I have confidence in him, except hearing all those people in the group complaining about the Kasier doctors, which make me feel nervous. :-( Thanks for your responses. -Li > A co-worker had a myomectomy at Kaiser (in Roseville) and it turned > into a hysterectomy, but who's not to say that she wouldn't have had > the same outcome if she had the surgery done elsewhere? > > As long as you've done your research, I'm sure you'll be fine. Guest guest
Li, I didn't have a myo but did have a UAE with Kaiser but I've been with Kaiser for over 20 years and I've seen tons of doctors all around the bay area. They've run from wonderful to terrible. I've dealt with 6 doctors just dealing with my fibroid! I think the horrible problems we have with doctors isn't limited to just Kaiser doctors. I've been on two fibroid lists for over 8 months and most of the horrible stories are not about Kaiser doctors. As with all doctors you need referrals. With Kaiser, since I don't have any friends in the plan, I find that the best way to find out who is the one to see is ask the people who work there who they see. Also remember when considering surgery the best surgeon is not always the best at bed side manor. I have to say the the IR who did my surgery was wonderful, talking to me at length on the phone and answered all my questions, was great before the surgery and did a great job with my surgery. I also have to say that the staff at the hospital were great to me. I do remember several women on the list talking about Kaiser in Oakland. Maybe you should check the archives to read what they had to say. Good luck to you on your surgery. Guest guest
Hi Li, Yes, Roseville, CA. The doctor told her that she was bleeding too much so he had to do a hysterectomy. 2% is a low complication rate I think. I believe that the average is about 5%. I am going in tomorrow morning for my abdominal myo. Can't wait to get this over with! > > A co-worker had a myomectomy at Kaiser (in Roseville) and it turned > > into a hysterectomy, but who's not to say that she wouldn't have > had > > the same outcome if she had the surgery done elsewhere? > > > > As long as you've done your research, I'm sure you'll be fine. > Have > > you interviewed this doctor and found his answers and success rates > > to be excellent? Guest guest
Are you going for a Kaiser doctor as well. Good luck tomorrow! -Li > > > A co-worker had a myomectomy at Kaiser (in Roseville) and it > turned > > > into a hysterectomy, but who's not to say that she wouldn't have > > had > > > the same outcome if she had the surgery done elsewhere? > > > > > > As long as you've done your research, I'm sure you'll be fine. > > Have > > > you interviewed this doctor and found his answers and success > rates > > > to be excellent? Guest guest
No, my doctor's are from a fertility clinic in Roseville. Let me know if you want their info. It would be about a two hour drive for you from the Oakland area. There are also some very good doctors at Stanford and in the Los Gatos area. I think I saw some mentioned in San Francisco, too. The only problem is that it sounds like you might be limited to Kaiser for your insurance. > > > > A co-worker had a myomectomy at Kaiser (in Roseville) and it > > turned > > > > into a hysterectomy, but who's not to say that she wouldn't have > > > had > > > > the same outcome if she had the surgery done elsewhere? > > > > > > > > As long as you've done your research, I'm sure you'll be fine. > > > Have > > > > you interviewed this doctor and found his answers and success > > rates > > > > to be excellent? Guest guest
<< Hi all, I would like to know if anybody on in the group have done a myo with Kaiser doctors and got good or bad results? I will go with Dr. Chin for my myo in Oakland Kaiser on Oct 10. I just read the people in this group had some horrible experiences with Kaiser doctors. Now I get a little bit scared. Help! -Li >> Hi Li, I had my myomectomy in February 1999 with a Kaiser doctor in the Portland, Oregon area and am happy with the results. Good luck with your myo! Guest guest
Hi CB! Thanks for the warm message... I am sure I will do fine! So how are you doing now? Have you gone back to work? I am planning to take 4 weeks off and have a good rest. Since I finished my Ph.D this Feb, I have gone on a trip to Europe and then started to work right after. I have been feeling pretty tired for the past year. I guess it is not such a bad thing to have a myo...I get to stay at home and company even pays for it! :-) All I have to do is watching movies. I have just joined www.netflix.com. I am planning to watch as much DVD as I can. I may be able to watch more movies in the next month than what I was able to in the past five years! See, now I do have positive thinking! :-) -Li > Hi Li, wanted to wish yuo good luck with your Myo. I am now 4 weeks post > myo but i did not have a Kaiser Doctor.
