Hello Darlene,

I am slao new to the group but I must say I am finding it very helpful.

I have 2 fibroids, one large 10cm, the other much smaller. I am going in for

surgery (myomectomy) next Monday and I am very nervous but it does seem the best

option for me at this time.

So I can't help you with your ab questions although

I also am pretty slim but have had a bulging stomach

(maybe after the surgery I'll get a six pack)

If you want to respond, I'd love to chat.

Thanks

Sally

Hi everyone.

Im new to the group. This is my first post although I have been

reading lot of the group's posts. I'm exploring my options since I

want to save my uterus. I have UAE in mind, but have also been

reading about myomectomy. My symptons are very heavy bleeding and

clots during the 2nd and 3rd day of my period. (not much pain) It is

so bad that I stay home from work 2 days each month and plan my life

around it. But now im ready to do something about it. I had become

so anemic my hair thinned out and my nails started to peel. Im

taking a multivitamin which has helped. I have to find a gyn in New

Jersey. I have had this problem for about 2 years but have always

had heavy periods and anemia since my periods began. My question is

once you have a procedure done do your abdominal return to normal

status " flat " . My lower abs seem to jut out and Im slim except for

my stomach. I wonder if the fibroids is causing this. Also does

your abs feel hard where the fibroids are. Thanks any info will be

gratefully accepted. darlene

Yes, fibroids can cause a bulging tummy. There are no guarantees that

your stomach will be flat after UAE, and they don't promise it. There

is a UAE group that you may want to join. too. (Embo group) Lots of

information for you there. I am having UAE on Nov. 16, and after all

my research, I believe it is the best treatment for me. Your tummy

won't be flat after an abdominal hysterectomy either, but I don't know

about Myo. A very good friend of mine had a hyst. (due to a single

large fibroid) in August and her Dr. told her because of all the " work "

they had to do to get her uterus out, she will NEVER have a flat

stomach again. It is bigger now than before her hyst. (She has always

been very thin.) Other than that, and her remaining ovary shutting down

and having to be on hormones for the rest of her life, she is

" satisfied " with her choice of treatment.
