Guest guest
Hi Daphne: There is much non-decisiveness among Dr's regarding whether one can pass yeast back and forth between partners. In the context of one partner being female, some doctors say unless the male shows signs of yeast there is no reason to think he has it also. My doctor feels that is simply not reliable and treated both me and my husband (My husband with less) with oral antifungals. I cant see any reason why a resistnat strain couldnt be passed back and forth. Once a strain is there its there- and it can go elsewhere. But I sort of understand your confusion: I remember wondering about this too-that is, if I breed a resistant strain in me, is it only in me,and is ONLY *IT* in me or do I still carry non resistant strains, and what about other people and the strains *they* breed? But if youre with a partner then of course the two of you can pass it back and forth- at least many doctors think so. Think about it too inrelation to antibiotics- the pathogens we have " created " by using antibiotics too freely has rendered the old reliables less effective or not effective. There are people in the medical world who are very worried about the proliferation of " antibacterial " soaps and cleaning products, the thinking being that if we continually bombard all pathogens with antibacterial stuff we are goig to create resistnat pathogens EVERYWHERE. Creepy! Ever noticed how the Monistat shelf is always half empty? Yeasts, I beleive, also exist in the atmoshpere...? This is why fermentation works,I think. Yeasts are everywhere. The yeast in our gut has to come from somewhere- there probably is a relationship between yeast in the air, yeast in out skin, yeast in our gut...? So maybe creating resistant yeasts in women does mean that is will eventually become the yeast everyone gets, by virtue of the ubiquity of yeasts. Anyone want to solidify my grasping here? -- Thielke http://www.numuse.com " 'Solidified electricity' is the fancy name given to it by the Bureau of Standards. Guest guest
Hi all, I'm am VERY behind on my e-mail and wanted to respond to this subject. My GYN believes that your partner can reinfect you with yeast. He claims that men can occasionally, (it is rare, but does happen at times) have yeast, which they contract from us....we treat ourselves...but, then they can reinfect us. He has in the past, RX'd Diflucan for my spouse along with me when I get in the mode of " recurring " yeast infections. Doesn't it stink that they can have yeast...but, NOT EVEN KNOW IT! Look what we go through when we are infected with it! There's never a doubt in my mind when I get those awful symptoms what the cause is. Hope this information is helpful. Hugs, Carla

Guest guest
Carla when I was seeing a fertility specialist she told me the same thing. She treated both my husband and myself. I don't remember what she had him take or put on, but it worked. That was 8 yrs ago, wish I could remember how she treated us. anyway She said The man can harbor it on the tip or if not circumcised in can live in that fold of skin. I found that very interesting. Take care m
Guest guest
There is also some anecdotal evidence that some men can get it in their prostates, which can cause major problems with their sexual functioning. I believe this is what happened with my husband. He got a prostate infection that refused to respond to antibiotics. He finally got tired of going to doctors and asked me for advice. I had him take some natural anti-fungals that are available OTC, and he has had very little problems since. My infections also decreased once he started getting treated. Now we share the anti-Candida diet and many of the same supplements. I still have to take anti-fungals for the GI tract so they are different from his. He has to take anti-fungals that are more systemic. Hope this helps. Guest guest
, There are a number of natural anti-fungals that I have been taking or am currently taking. Caprylic Acid was the first one. Then came Grapefruit Seed Extract, which is one that my husband swears by. He still takes it, though I don't take it regularly any more. SF722 is also know as Undecenoic Acid made from castor bean oil is very effective. Tanalbit and Viracin are the ones that I am taking now. Garlic is also good. I haven't tried Colloidal Silver yet, though that is probably next on my list. It is a bit more expensive and funds are limited now. Just got some discouraging news today. I had another stool culture done about 3-4 weeks ago and was initially told that nothing was growing, but the doctor called today and said that he had gotten another report that said I still had yeast growing in my GI tract. Not as bad as before, but still there. We are going to try some more prescription anti-fungals now, if he can persuade the insurance to pay for it. Hope this helps. For a complete list of what I am taking currently see My Story on my website. Guest guest
, Glad your bladder problems seem to be better. I hope that your test isn't too uncomfortable. I shudder at the very thought of it. Hope your health continues to improve. Anne M., RN MCFighter@...
