OBITUARIES JOSE LUIS MARTINEZ SR. MCALLEN— Mr. L. ez Sr. passed away on Friday, March 2, 2001, at the age of 73. He is survived by daughters, Janie Maldonado, Sylvia Romero, Lupita ez, M. , Corina ez, and Ma. Elena Tomes; sons, L. ez Jr., Ramon ez, Esequiel ez, Arturo ez; 30 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by wife, Guadalupe R. ez; a son, Edelmiro ez; and a daughter, Sylvia ez. Chapel hours for Sunday will be from 1 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. religious service at the Funeral Home. Monday the funeral home opens at 9 a.m. and the funeral service begins at 10 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. The interment will be at La Piedad Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. under the care of Funeral Homes, Inc. MANUEL MARTINEZ MISSION — ez, 74, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 1, 2001, at Mission Hospital. He was born on May 18, 1926, in Mission, Texas. He, along with his brother, Jesus P. ez, was employed by Mission CISD for over 30 years as school bus drivers. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jesus P. ez; and his first wife, V. ez. He is survived by two sons, (Yolanda) ez and Alberto (Leti) ez; two step sons, Eli (Virginia) Rios and Israel (Raquel) Rios; numerous grandchildren; second wife, Margarita T. ez; step children, Dolores Turruviates, Augillon, Frances and Gustavo Ramon. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, March 4, 2001, at Chapel. A prayer service will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday night. A chapel service will be said at 1 p.m. Monday, March 5, 2001, at Chapel. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Funeral Home of Mission. CESAREO LOPEZ ALAMO — Cesareo , 103, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2001, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in Mc. He is preceded in death by his wife Eusebia G. ; and step children, Inez, Severo, Tristan, and Heriberto Salinas. Survivors include step children, Pioquito Salinas of Dallas and America Godinez of Mc; and numerous grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends and especially by Maxi Garza, his granddaughter; and Gloria Reyes, his niece. Burial to follow at St. ph cemetery in Alamo, under the direction of De Leon Funeral Home of Pharr. ——— BRUCE NEIL FODNESS KINGWOOD — Bruce Neil Fodness, born March 12, 1958, died January 31, 2001, in Atascocita, Texas. Bruce was married to Peggy Pride, daughter of Jackie Pride of Mc, Texas. Peggy was raised in Mc and graduated from Mc High School in 1974. Peggy’s husband, Bruce graduated from Iowa State University and began his career with Exxon Corporation in 1980, where he worked until his death. He was very active in the Humble Girls Fast Pitch Softball League as a coach, board member and president. Mr. Fodness is survived by his wife, Peggy Fodneess; and their daughters, and Elise; and son, Shane of Atascocita, Texas; his parents; sister; and three brothers. Box 1225, Humble, Texas, 77347-1225 MIGUEL ANGEL MORALES EDCOUCH — Angel Morales, 22, passed away to be with the Lord, Thursday, March 1, 2001, at Knapp Medical Center. He was a graduate of Edcouch-Elsa High School and was currently employed by ACT Ambulance Care of Edcouch. He is survived by his loving wife, Vaiz Morales of Edcouch; his parents Rodrigo and Beatriz Morales of Elsa; two brothers, Gregorio (Raquel) Morales of Willmar, Minn., and Rodrigo Morales, Jr. of Elsa; two sisters Morales and Morales both of Elsa; his paternal grandparents Epifanio and Romana Moralez of Santa ; his maternal grandparents Domingo and Romana Lugo both of Santa ; his father and mother in-law and Fancis Vaiz of Weslaco; one brother in-law Vaiz; and three sisters-in-law Tabatha Vaiz, Vaiz, and a Vaiz all of Weslaco. A holy rosary was recited Friday evening at 7 p.m. at Guerra Funeral Home. Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2001, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Arrangements were under the direction of Guerra Funeral Home of Elsa. ERNEST WILLIAM SERVIERE MCALLEN — Ernest Serviere, 91, died on Thursday, March 1, 2001, at Twinbrooke South Nursing Home. He was a native of Ranlett, Okla. He moved to the Valley from California in 1924. Ernest was a life-long bachelor but a loving caretaker and provider for many members of his immediate family. He was a good, successful farmer who dearly loved to fish and hunt. Over the years, he had many friends that shared his interests in farming, hunting and fishing. He served for many years on the Property Board at St. Lutheran Church in Mc. He was an active member of the congregation. Ernest is survived by nine nieces and seven nephews. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Ann Gullion and Kappler; and two brothers, Alphon and Serviere. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 4, 2001, from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Kreidler Funeral Home on N.10th Street. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 5, 2001, at Roselawn Cemetery in Mc with Rev. Duane Kirchner officiating. He was born in Terre Haute, Ind., and had lived in Pharr for 15 years, was formerly of El Paso. He was an electrical engineer with Controls in Pharr. He is survived by his wife Greggs of Pharr; two sons, (Sugiko) Greggs of Japan, Bradley Greggs of Hawaii; three daughters, Regina () Owens of Knoxville, Tenn., (Andres) Almaraz of Alamo, lynn (Darryl) of Chicago, Ill.; and 10 grandchildren, , & Owens, Sho, Andre, Kenya & Rio Greggs, Angeles Almaraz, and Austin . He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family.
