Guest guest
Moria----dear, sweet Moria-----and special guardian angel to so many of us. I doubt that even the Man Upstairs can get a halo large enough for you. Please don't let me ever have to find out what I'd do without your help!!! I had already copied the " counting rules " and forwarded them to Sharon. BUT---should you happen to " run into " the references you said you'd have to " poke around " for, I'd still appreciate that. While her ex has finally agreed to try the chelation for Matt, Sharon would like to " feed " him ---the ex---more, to be sure he doesn't change mid-stream. But, please, Moria---no hurry on that. You do so much. God be with you always. If references, I'll have to poke around to see if I know any. I'll assume you just want it explained -- but let me know if the following does not help or address your questions. When someone is exposed to mercury it will be present after that for varying time periods in different body parts/organs. It will be present in blood, but not for very long (I think it is " days " but I am sorry to say I am not really trustworthy source on this). In hair mercury will be present a bit longer (I think this is in " months " , but again I'm not sure.) Mercury will be present in urine and stool to the extent the person is able to detox it, rather than store it. What happens then is that the mercury gets moved into other ograns-- such as thyroid, kidneys, brain, etc. The mercury is " hidden " there--- in other words, a person could have enough mercury in their brain and kidneys and thyroid to do great damage and at the same time their urine, blood, and hair would come out " normal " . Urine, blood and feces are the things we are willing to have sampled, but they are NOT where the (long term) mercury is. The bottom line here is that is someone is tested and shows a HIGH level of mercury, that DOES mean there is a problem. But, if they test as " normal " this means very little, and you should ignore it! Please go read this file (called " the counting rules " ) which explains how a hair test can be used as a guide to tell if someone has mercury poisoning. /files/Counting%2BRules The idea here is you are looking for what mercury DOES since you can't look for mercury itself. Something mercury DOES is it seriously messes up the body's ability to use/process minerals (regular stuff like calcium etc). The counting rules look for " seriously messed up minerals " . Mercury exposure is not necessarily from the gut. It could have been from gut (like eating tuna) or from breathing or from skin exposure--- or in the case of vaccines, I guess I'm not sure how to say that-- from direct injection into the body. Amalgam fillings result in the mercury " outgassing " and then one BREATHES the mercury vapor. If you played with mercury as a child (as I did) that is skin exposure. There were many topical products with mercury in them (there are still a few around, unfortunately). These are meant as examples, but the point is that you could be exposed various ways. The reason for chelation is to clear the mercury (or other metals) out of the body. Andy recently posted something that said that most body organs will detox " on their own " in something like 2 to 5 years, but brain will hold on to the mercury forever. Bernie just posted something that said in brain the halflife of mercury is 30 years--- I think I may have read other numbers too--- but they are LONG time periods--- much longer than I have. (And if the HALFLIFE is 30 years, I wonder how long it is to get it down to --oh 10% or 0!) Okay, hope that was some help. Moria
Guest guest
Hi Pat, Well, first, before anything else, let us celebrate that your Matt is gonna get a go at this. he he he (you go!) Okay, now regarding the poking around --- let's see--- I'm looking for stuff that says that urine/blood/feces are inaccurate indicators of merc toxicity and that merc is stored (and destructive) all the while. Humm, well the articles at VRP with overview of mercury poisoning have a couple of lines (pretty minimal) on this topic. Still, more than nothing: http://www.vrpcentral.net/scripts/vrpMoreNews.asp?ART=461 http://www.vrpcentral.net/scripts/vrpMoreNews.asp?ART=471 Please note that their suggestions for a. provoked urine tests, b. chlelation dosage & schedule and c. use of NAC (etc) are in serious conflict with Andy's views on these topics, and should be taken with a grain or more of salt. Clicking what Dr. Amy says---oh-- this is much better--- here we go--- a good explanation in non-techie language, this should be just what you are looking for I think: http://www.healing-arts.org/children/holmes.htm#testing I like her comment that the only way to actually tell how much is in your brain (etc) is to biopsy the tissue ( " not a recommended procedure " ). (yeah, no kidding!) Okay, onward. The DAN protocol http://www.autism.com/ari/mercuryconsensus.html has this to say: " Inclusion testing Urine, blood and hair mercury are typically normal or negative unless the mercury exposure has been fairly recent. On occasion, urinary mercury will be elevated if the child is in a catabolic state due to growth or malnutrition. In these situations, the mercury stored in tissues may be released as those cells are broken down. " (Let's assume that I don't need to say that Andy disagrees with them about numerous things. The provoked urine test being just one.) There is a start for you. Hope it helps. BTW, if I were you (I'm not) I'm " feed him " the stuff in " love letters " . One good story of a child who improved does a lot more for me than does someone explaining merc poisoning. (The results chart on Dr. Amy's site is also great.) Your mileage (and his) may vary, of course. Different people find different stuff convincing. And the explainations are very necessary even if not quite as inspired as results are. (I'd also get him Dr. Cave's book RIGHT NOW.) As for your words of thanks, you are welcome, and I'd try to figure out something to say to respond, but I'm sorta in shock. And don't you dare forget, Pat, that you, too, can " pass it on " . Moria At 04:56 PM 9/7/2001 -0500, you wrote: >Moria----dear, sweet Moria-----and special guardian angel to so many of us.
