Hi

My first question is : are you using a compounded liquid for his dmsa? If

not, then you might want to check for yeast problems. They are very common

after starting chelation , especially on step two ..*(or once the ala is added)

If you are using a compounded liquid dmsa, you really need to switch to

capsules and mix your own. I have found out that the liquid is not very stable

and tends to lose it's potency as the days go by. That is what happened with

us. We used suppositories for the first 6 months and he did great! Made great

progress, etc... then the liquid became available and we started that, and

almost immediately we hit a lag. And then regression. We did find yeast and

clostridia and medicated for that, but after a while we knew something wasn't

working. At the DAN! conference in May, Dr. Jim Laidler said that testing had

found that the liquid is not stable. Sure enough, we changed to capsules and my

son has started progressing again. Although it is almost like starting over,

which really stinks!! Anyway, just some thoughts for you, as I know how

frustrating this can be!!

> I am using DMSA capsules. I have been concerned that he doesn't get

the whole dose, he cannot at this time swallow pills, so opening, and

mixing is our only option. It smells horrid, unless mixed with orange

soda, but even then, there is a residue in the medicine cup. I had,

though, mixed up about 6 doses in advance and used them throughout

the day, and stopped doing that a few weeks ago-they smelled much

worse after being pre-mixed, and it seemed unfair to give him

something so putrid. Thank you for the benefit of your experience, I

truly do find it the most informative to learn from those actually

living it. Kate.
