Hi and group. You asked about symptoms. Some of my fibroid symptoms

include a regular ache in my hip. IT seems that when I sleep on my side

extra pressure from the fibroid rests on my hip area. I also have difficulty

standing up straight right away. Its an adjustment for me to deal with the

fact that my 37 year old self takes a few seconds to straighen up due to the

lower back ache.

My mom had similar lower back pain when she had fibroids some years back.

This hip situation seems less common. Does anyone out there have such

symptoms?

I get hip pains, too, mostly on my right side, the side I sleep on. It seems

to be more intense when I'm constipated. I also have lower back pain and

stiffness. I've gained a lot of weight in the last couple of years (right

around the time my fibroids were diagnosed), so that's not helping matters.

The heartbreaking part about that is that I'd worked very hard to lose weight

and had gotten myself down to a size where I felt comfortable and attractive,

and now I feel like a balloon in Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. Anyway, just

wanted to confirm the aches. You're not alone.

Yes Kim, my hip is killing me....hardly slept last night because of it.

After sitting and getting up to walk I look like I'm about 100yrs old but

after a few steps and I get going it's better:) Doctor wants a CT scan of

pelvis and abdomen done to make sure nothing else is going on and all this

pain is fibroid related. So guess the hip pain is unusual.

Hi,

I have hip pain. In the mornings, I have back pain. I'm wondering if it's from

having full bladder & colon, since I don't seem to have it throughout the day.

My hip injury happened during a run, but after physical therapy, time off

running, and months of easing back into exercise, it's never gone away.

I'll be having a myo in January though, so if there's any chance it's related to

the fibroid, I guess I'll find out. My gyn doesn't think so, but I saw a post

from someone whose hip pain went away after treating her fibroids.

I have had lower back pain for the last couple of years. I never

associated it with my fibroids (probably because I never mentioned it

to my gynecologist) until I had a consultation with my Interventional

Radiologist. I had UFE last Friday (it went very well) and I am

waiting for the day that my lower back ache is gone. Very soon, I

hope.

He's a gynecologist Kim....I believe the purpose of the CT scan is to rule

out any obstructions in the ureters or probems with the bowel that could be

causing pain. He wants to make sure the fibroids are the source of all the

pain and not jump into doing a surgery that might not make me feel any

better.

Hi Cheryl and and group.

I feel less alone, that is for sure. Thanks for the info. I wonder what type

of doctor Cherly, you are going to that wants you to have a CT scan. I am

finding myself without a physician to oversee things for me. IS this your

gyne that is sending you? My gyne sent me to a fertility specialist/endo and

that was the end of it for him. I am searching for better, more holistic

care now.

Hang in there with the pain that keeps you sleepless.

I am afraid I will turn into an advil junky to alleviate the hip and back

discomfort. I saw a naturopath who suggested I alter my diet to

avoid--dairy, meat, wheat, sugar (hardly anything left). When I avoid foods

such as these that make me gassy, I find that I am in less discomfort.

Best-

Kim

Carol,

I had the same experience as you - lower back pain, didn't associate it with

fibroids till the IR brought it up (never mentioned it to my gyn).

I had UAE on 3/30/01, and my back pain went away almost immediately and hasn't

recurred. I hope you will have the same good luck.

Hi Kim,

about those bachaches,Yes...they can be related to yhe fibriods. The heavy uterus

(due to the myoma)is pulling on the " ligaments " supporting the uterus, this gives

that type of back pain especially on standing (uterus hangs).A temporary relief

can be achieved with NSAIDs as Voltaren 100 SR tab Once per day,If u dont have

any git (stomach)problems.

Can any one answer a question for me? I am 34 years

old with fibroids. I have bleeding during intercourse

and spotting through out the month. No heavy periods

at all. The doctors are telling me that its from

fibroids. I thought that you bleed heavy at periods

not at other times. Does any one have the same

symptoms? Or know anything about it? Thanks

Hi Dr. Hadiday,

Thanks for the validation and the recommendation. I am concerned about my

NSAID intake overall/over time. If I am not mistaken, ibuprofen and naproxin

fit into this category. I am not having stomach aches from them. I will

check out voltaren.

thanks again.

Hi Nina.

For a few years we were monitoring two. This spring a water based ultra

sound altered that count. Then they said then that there was just one big

one. I am not convinced. Compared to many of the women who write in, mine

are not as troublesome as of yet. I am able to delay the surgerical options

for now. And, You?

This is the sort of backache I get, too. I have it right now, as a matter

of fact.

I have been bleeding SO heavily the last two days and feel so tired and

yet, my stomach feels tremendous relief. The bloat is beginning to go down,

too.

Last month I watched my shape grow and shrink throughout the month. It was

really strange, but some mornings there would be as much as a full size

difference in my waistline. I would never have believed it. I had to buy a

skirt a size larger recently because the size I usually buy was much too small.

Well, the following week when I put it on again, there was at least an

extra two inches available around the waist. Does anyone else experience

such drastic changes in size?

Kim,

Yes, I also have a pain in my hip, also on the

right side. The side I sleep on. I am only 34 and have

fibroids but I dont yet know the size of them. It

takes me a while to stand up straight too. Good Luck ,
