Now that you have experienced every 8 hour dosing, why not just try

every 4 hours next time and see what that is like? Flip back and

forth a few times if you need to - the side effects of each are pretty

reproducible.

Andy

I have been thinking that the 4 hour protocol was based upon the lifetime of

ALA in the blood. Here, Mickey is using DMSA only. Does DMSA also have the

same pharacokinetics as ALA or am I missing something?

Dear Ken,

I'm not Andy, but I have his opinion on this down pat.

(He seems to be a bit scarce on the list right now---

apparently busy elsewhere.)

Andy's advice on how often chelators are needed is:

ALA: every 3 hours

DMSA: every 4 hours

DMPS: every 8 hours.

More often is okay, less often is not okay.

When taking ALA and DMSA together, take them

every 3 hours -- the shorter of the 2 times.

All of it is based on the blood level thing--- same

premise in all cases.

The 4 hours is DEFINATELY about DMSA.

The 4 hours is based on DMSA NOT ALA. ALA is every 3.

Although Andy says it is okay to take ALA every 4 at

night if that helps, but to go back to 3 during day.

(I've been taking it after 3.5 hours of sleep, which

works well for me--- I'm generally awake after 7 hrs

of sleep-- so this is one nighttime awakening at

3.5 hours, then another pill 7 hours after I went to

sleep.)

I hope that is some help in spite of my not being Andy ;)

best,

Moria

In reply to my post, Andy wrote:

Andy,

I most definitely would like to do that. Again, my son is 8 years old and

weighs around 55 lbs. If I understand you correctly, we should give him 25

mg of DMSA every 4 hours.

One other thing: Today is our first " off " day following 3 days of chelation

with 200 mg DMSA every 8 hours. While his behavior during most of the

chelation time was good (Day 3 was filled with drastic mood swings), today he

is doing a lot of attention-seeking behaviors that we haven't seen in quite a

while. Behaviors such as throwing things and then running off, dumping water

on the floor, knocking over things - laughing after each behavior. It seems

to come in bursts. Also, lots of verbal stimming. Again, we haven't seen

these behaviors in a long time. Would you attribute these behaviors to the

chelation process? If so, could you explain what is happening inside his

little body? Thank you so much - you are so very much appreciated!

Yours,

Mickey
