Hey listmates,

I'm excited. Dr. Cave's new book showed up in

my mailbox today. Now, I *do* realize that I really should

READ some of it before I comment on how fabulous it is,

but, sorry, I just can't wait that long. ;)

I've only (so far) had time to scan the index--- I went

directly to the chapters on mercury and on autism, and

skimmed them. Jeez, you gotta get this book--- if you

are new to this topic or if you are trying to explain

it all to someone else, this book will save you HEAPS

of time and breath! The whole deal with the connection

to mercury/vaccines/autism is explained, along with

commentary on the rise in autism, and some history

of the understanding that vaccines/mercury/autism are

connected.

She says very clearly that mercury (or maybe it was

vaccines--- ) may not be the ONLY cause,

but are involved. There are pages with the famous

" comparison chart " of symptoms of merc poisoning

and autism--- it is all there printed out. It's

like reading a whole lot of the mail on the list

sort of " condensed " or something.

I like that she also talks about OTHER

sources of merc exposure in addition to vaccines.

There is a GENERAL description of her medical approach

to autism (several steps or parts including chelation--

actually I don't see the word " chelation " --- talks about

" use of detoxifier drug ... " (dmsa) and detoxification

process.)

There is a heading section here " Results " : " So far the

results have been exceptional. The biggest improvements

come when the toxic metals are removed from the children's

bodies. We have seen nearly complete recovery in many of

the two- to seven-year-old children. " She also says

results appear to be greater in younger kids.

I will be buying a copy of this to give to a friend who

has a niece who has autism (I've already explained all

about mercury and chelation etc, but it is not his kid,

so a simple step-by-step book, by a DOCTOR to boot, might

help...) This seems like JUST the thing to pass on to people

who don't know a thing about this, or to new mom's (whom I

occassional want to shake and say " please don't allow

your kid to be vaccinated " )

There are also BIG sections of the book that talks about

each type of vaccine (MMR gets special attention-- chicken

pos, etc.)

REALLY, honestly, all I have done is leaf through it, and

skim the parts about mercury and so on. I should write a

" real " comment after I've actually read the book! But,

just had to let you know this looks like a book that most

of you have been waiting for and searching for.

Here is a link to it again:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0446677078/qid%3D999931913/002-428602

(that needs to all be entered as one line)

I wonder how many copies we would have to buy to get

wholesale prices? If anyone in Louisiana has info on

autographed copies, please let us know ;)

p.s. I just added a LINK on the website (under " BOOKMARKS " )

that goes to this book (on amazon's website). It is the same

URL I listed above, just stored in the BOOKMARKS section, so

that when you want to find it again, you can look there for it.

Does Dr. Cave's book explain protocol (so I could show it to my Dr.) or just

the reasoning behind the theory? Also, if I show it to my ped. will he be

offended? I guess I'm asking if it's too heavy-handed for the general

audience, outside of our circle. Moria, would you mind giving a quick

synopsis after you've read it? I've purchased so many books in the past which

have turned out to not be quite what I was expecting.

Thanks,

first, to krnstvn@...:

The book is WHAT YOUR DOCTOR MAY NOT TELL YOU ABOUT CHILDREN'S

VACCINATIONS by Cave, M.D., F.A.A.F.P. with Deborah

Use the link in my prior post (or in the BOOKMARKS) to get to

more info on it (goes to the listing on amazon, which includes

good info like price, ISBN #, etc, even if don't want to buy it there.)

Next, said:

>Does Dr. Cave's book explain protocol (so I could show it to my Dr.) or just

>the reasoning behind the theory? Also, if I show it to my ped. will he be

>offended? I guess I'm asking if it's too heavy-handed for the general

The " protocol " info is VERY VERY general. The book is NOT about

chelation or chelation protocols or anything like that. The section

about her treatment approach for vaccine induced autism is about

2 to 4 pages.... we are talking a paragraph about testing, a

paragraph about diet, a paragrpah about supplements, a paragraph

about casein free diet, a paragraph about using DMSA for

detoxification, etc. This in not an exact count of what she

said, but a reasonable idea of the level of detail (VERY general).

There is also a chapter about auto-immune stuff that I didn't

read yet.

I believe this book is written for " a general audience " and is

meant to be non-confrontational in approach. It is NOT

" anti-vaccine " or " heavy handed " in my opioion. I cannot imagine

your ped. being offended, unless your ped. is generally offended

by being given books by patients (which is quite possible).

But in terms of the info and presentation, NO, not offensive

or confrontational. Also written in " easy " language as far as

I have seen so far. Again, my impression is that it is MEANT

to go " outside our circle " and I already plan to use it that

way. I think it will be a good " bridge " book to explain

to things to the " uninitiated " , and perhaps be a step toward

making this whole thing so specialized (Maybe a step toward

making " our circle " exist as separate.) I can very easily

imagine this book in the waiting rooms of health practitioners

of any kind. Personally, I would want ANY group that deals

with autism to have this in their waiting room and in their

lending library and -- well -- generally " passed around " and

put in public places. I would be interested to hear other

people's thoughts on this once you have had a chance to read

the book too.

Moria, would you mind giving a quick

Yes, I intend to comment further once I've read it.

I'm not great at synopsis (since I get pulled to specific areas that

interest me), but will review/comment/summarize as the case may be.

best,

Moria

Best way to find it (other that reg.book store)is amazon.com and

enter Dr. Cave on the search. Comes right up.

Hi ,

I'm sorry to be wishy-washy here, but I'm having second

thoughts about the following comment (which I made):

> I cannot imagine

>your ped. being offended, unless your ped. is generally offended

>by being given books by patients (which is quite possible).

>But in terms of the info and presentation, NO, not offensive

>or confrontational.

I was reading the first couple chapters today, and I still DO

think she is trying to be non-confrontational and sorta

" just being informative " . But there is a lot of info that

someone could really " take offense about " , no matter how

nicely it is stated. So, I just wanted to add that---

that your ped. might find the IDEAS in the book " offensive "

even though the presentation style is not offensive or

confrontative.

Dr. Cave does have some clear postitions that could be considered

" not the norm " -- like that vaccinations are related to autism

and other developmental and neurological disorders, for

example. Which is what makes the book NICE --- my " enthusiam "

was largely about just seeing this viewpoint all spelled

out slowly and IN PRINT IN A BOOK.

best,

Moria

Thanks Moria - I just don't want to hand my ped. a book that states something

to the effect of a cover-up by the medical community about the harmfulness of

some vaccines (which may very well be taking place - wouldn't surprise me). I

honestly think my ped. is too overworked and harried to even be aware of a

lot of the controversy. Also, I will need his cooperation to go along with

the chelation protocol, FGF, and some prescription meds I may want to try in

the future. I guess I better just read the book!
