Guest guest
Hi Thyca friends, Well, Vern finally had his endo appt. The news was good and not so good. I think I have been in denial since April. The not so good news is that in addition to lung mets, there are liver mets in one lobe of the liver. The MD believes Vern's cancer to be non-avid because there was no uptake in '93 or '94. He also said that at this time there is no clinical trial that he thinks is appropriate. I also learned that at April appt., TSH was 4.5. His synthroid was upped to .200. Anxious to see what TSH was yesterday, but doubt if it is suppressed yet. I am angry and frustrated that the former endo never acted to suppress his TSH. (Or maybe she thought going from .150 to .175 was enough, and didn't follow through after that.) After we talked with the new endo a bit, we all decided that since Vern and I had not been told about eating seafood, or any of the other LID restrictions before the previous RAI treatments, (different endo, different city) it might be beneficial to try 300 mCi of RAI. He is scheduled for RAI in early January. Reason for the delay is that we have a vacation planned and paid for, so want to enjoy it. I have downloaded the LID cookbook and will check previous posts for other recipes so we get it right. Keep us in your thoughts please. Jane Husband, Vern dx papca 11/91, pt & tt 12/91, RAI '92, '93, '94, total 500 mCi. Recurrent rt. neck mets annually '92 to '00, mets in front left neck '01, lung and liver mets dx '01. Also parathyroids destroyed '91, kidney stones 3 times, (now has good urologist managing calcium)
