Guest guest
I'm 51 yrs old and just had myo with Dr. West. Dr. West is amazing! Lupron was not used before and during the surgery, Dr West uses cell-saver. Acc to the operative report, I lost 1600 cc's of blood, 850 cc's was put back in using cell-saver. The US showed 4 - grossly incorrect - he took out 25 from 10 cm (very large in the picture) to little ones. He also took out an ovarian cyst that showed up on the US. I am home recovering but I feel great. All those things were taken out of me!!! I am not menopausal yet, so they would probably grow and grow, and cause me more problems. I had a UAE in March this year which was a failure, Dr West said the arteries had plenty of blood supply and the fibroids were not dead. All as confirmed in his operative report. I informed the IR of this with a copy of the operative report of the myo, and he reminded me that 90% of UAE's work, the other 10% do not and I was one of the 10%. Anyone wants to, can e-mail me privately at: NYAtty537@.... I plan to post the pictures on-line but haven't had the chance as my Dad's in the hospital now, for dehyrdation and anemia. Guest guest
Marie, Have you considered Uterine Artery Embolization (UAE) since you don't want a hysterectomy? It may be appropriate for you. You can discuss it with your gyn, but he or she may not be familiar with it. There is also a UAE discussion group (Embo). Lots of info is available there, and you can get information on other informative websites.
