For all the pre-ops out there my hint would be to start now and try and get

all your water in so that you are used to it by the time you have surgery.

There are a lot of adjustments to make after surgery. It would be very

helpful if you could get some habits formed before. Also, when you first

start drinking all that water, you live in the bathroom. You want to get

your body used to this extra fluid. The constant trips to the bathroom do

ease off after a while. When you first come home, getting up and down is not

terribly comfortable at first. Give yourself a break and make life easier by

starting now.

Any other tips for the pre-ops out there??

Since surgery, I've got myself a coupla of sippy cups. It stops me from

gulping <PAIN> and lets me get enough fluids in every day. Enough to avoid

lifelong problems that make me dring fluids every day and avoid need for

stool softner that I relied on right after operation.

Re: Iron . . .

( I need to go for the Big H soon, ugh, another surgery!) Hope this helps! Hugz, Sandy in MA

Oh Sandy you will feel so much better. Won't be like The surgery. And now being thin you will do great! Hysterectomy was the best thing I ever did. Do you already have it scheduled. I really believe I have alot more energy since then, and I really believe the estrogen pills give me energy.

Thanks for the encouragement Jo. No, I don't have it scheduled yet -- thought

I'd wait until late spring, early summer -- if I'm going to have to be

out of work for another 5 weeks, at least I'll enjoy it by the pool! (laughing

all the way to a sun tan!) Can you email me privately and tell me about

the differences you found from one surgery to the other? I've also had

a C-section (albeit 11 years ago) which goes from just below my belly button

down. My sister had the Big H last year and they cut her from side to side?

I'm thinking I might be having a big smiley face when all is said and done

(might be smiles all over). Even with the max amount of iron that you can

take in a day plus whatever I eat, I'm still not at 100% -- I know what

100% is (I was there for a little while -- about 3-4 months out of surgery)!

Thanks for the listen!
