Hi Ruth-

Are you in NC yet? I really don't know what I'm going to do with my 11 year old Asperger's son who will be starting middle school! We have not sold our home in SFL yet...most of what we are looking at is in Waxhaw and Weddington which is zoned for Weddington Middle. I was hoping to send him to a very small Christian school along with his 1st grade sister, but they don't feel equipped...I'm trying to see if they'll take him if I provide some support.

Re: move to NC

Hi ,

We will be moving to Monroe NC, same area you are going to, it is Union County Schools, and I have found them very helpful. If you would like to e mail me directly I will you in on some of the details.

To and list,

I will be moving soon and my Family and I are looking forward to the change of pace in NC, the difference in the lifestyle is palpable and for us pleasing.

We will be in Union County in a town called Monroe outside Charlotte.

My Daughter will attend a "cluster" program at Weddington Elementary/Middle, the two schools are attached and are brand new they have everything Hannah needs there, with the plus of her old Autism Coach from here in Broward County working at the same school.

my 16 year old,(and really I can't believe he is 16), will attend a small school on the campus of Monroe High it is called Wolfe School, they have a web site, check it out. Lots of community based activities, fantastic caring staff and the programs leans toward life skills not academics.......perfect for Andy.

There is a summer camp for kids with ASD 1 on 1 ratio and it is VERY reasonable and run through the Y by a woman who worked with Vince Carbone for 4 years.

I realize that the grass is always greener, and believe me we are giving up a wonderful support system that we have surrounded ourselves with for a long time, however the last Hurricane took a few years off my life.....two Autistic children, no power, trees falling around us...I swear I thought the roof would blow off...lets face it some people's did!

I will write the list again before I go as I will need to say some special good byes, but know that I will report on everything that happens good or bad and let the list know anout NC.

Bye the way if anyone is interested the agent I used has a web site with connections to the ASA of NC and to the special pops programs in Union and surrounding Counties it is WWW,RICHFERRETTI.COM check it out!

Much Love,

Ruth
