Guest guest
Any Canadians on the list? I live in Ottawa (Ontario) and am having a TERRIBLE time finding any low-fat, low-sugar, low point treat items. I have been to almost every grocery store in our city and have had very little luck. Our WW location only has 2 points bars. Any suggestions? Sara I saw that Dairy Queen had some vanilla-orange sugar free cream bars that were 1 point. I stopped in to get some and was absolutely shocked at the price. A package of 6- 2.5 ounce bars was $8.88 and no thats not canadian dollars. I buy the health smart bars at wallyworld which are about $3 for a package of six of the same size bars. Even the WW giant fudge bars are cheap compared to that @$4.19 a box (on sale this week 2 for $7). Needless to say I left the Dairy Queen bars in their case. Guest guest
Spudz are like mini rice cakes but 100 times better. Way more flavour and they come in all your favorite chip flavours. My favorites are nacho cheese and ketchup. They may not be available in the US. Approximately 28 of them are 2 points. I usually bag them in double portions because I love them so much and I can usually afford a 4 point snack. Guest guest
Hey Sara Im not from Canada (from the States) but do you have Smart Ones stuff where you live? All the ice creams are about 1,2 3, or 4 points each, and are very nice sized portions. Quaker caramel rice cakes are wonderful, and just regular " store brand " fat free browine mix is GREAT at about 2-4 points per serving (2 " to 4 " inch size serving) My family likes the brownies so much, I have to individualy wrap them and put our names on each one. When you've eaten your's you're not allowed to eat anyone elses, LOL!! Hope you find some good stuff, because I think the WW bars are not so great, price or taste wise (and our prices are increasing again) ;( Bev > Any Canadians on the list? Guest guest
Although, I am doing Weight Watchers, my husband is doing mainly Slim Fast. The Slim Fast snack options are 2 points each. The Meal Options are 4 points each. They had them at Costco and they are on sale everywhere right now for about .50 a piece here in California. Tasty too!! And with the fake vitamins added! Guest guest
Thank you! The one place I haven't been is IGA (of course). I will hit the stores again... Sara Re: Expensive treats I also live in ottawa. Haven't even tried the WW 2 point bars, way too expensive! I buy low fat chocolate wafer cookies at IGA/Sobeys. 4 of them are two points. Sometimes I eat them on there own but usually I put 1/4 cup of ultra low fat cool whip in the middle for a nice 2 point snack. I really enjoy Spudz which you can find anywhere even Walmart. I portion them out as soon as I get them home and put them in ziplocs. Snack size orville redenbaucher (sp) light popcorn is 2 points for the whole bag. Fat Free fudge bars (can't remember the name-wasn't no name) fairly inexpensive and 1 point each. Delmonte fruit bars, also 1 point each. They come in different flavours, strawberry/kiwi is my favorite, also not very expensive.

My husband has used the meal bars for years to keep himself on points - he's military, and his weight is a matter of employment! Another option is Pria bars (available at walmart - also 2 points). Me? I stay away from most of it, regardless... tastes too much like the real thing, and tends to set off a binge. You know you're in trouble when the box warns you against over indulging in the bars < g>. Fresh fruit, WOW chips, carrot sticks... all are low point ways to kill a craving. The best is probably Smart Pop popcorn - 2 points for the whole bag. I'm notorious for sneaking them into the theatre with me <g>. We buy the boys' popcorn, and drinks for all of us, then we slip out our lite popcorn after the movie starts. It's not honest... but if the theatre would PROVIDE this alternative, we wouldn't have to be sneaky! Thankfully, no one ever checks the bag on my son's wheelchair for contriband... -Crys- (Lifetimer since August 1995) WW to date: 178.6/ 139.6 / 140 (-39.0) Well, the day has just begun and I'm already running late. Guest guest
<<<I am definately going to get some fat free brownie mix. Wrapping them individually also sounds like it will keep me from over-indulging!>>> I wanted to mention (hope nobody else has already said it), I found fat-free cornbread mix and fat-free muffin mix (cranberry-orange and blueberry) at Wal*Mart. They are the Krusteaz brand. The cornbread mix was about a dollar (I made 12 muffins with it, 2 points each) and the others were under $2 (2 points each). Both are " only add water " mixes. She was tremendously overweight - the surgery was successful, but she was so unhealthy that one by one each body systems shut down. Often, people go home within a week of open heart surgery. My mother died after 6 weeks in ICU. My family spent that 6 weeks not working, living out of a motel across the street from the hospital. The " cost " of being overweight is truly more than we can afford. Now... do those low fat-low sugar treats that allow us to stay on program REALLY seem expensive?
