Whatever you do DO NOT USE THOSE EARDROPS! My NT 8 yo got those at the

beginning of last school year for swimmers ear...

Within a week, infraction slips started pouring in, I got calls from the

teacher, etc. It got so bad that I pulled him and home-schooled him for two

semesters until I could have neuro-psych tests run. He ended up dx with ADHD

and a Central Auditory Processing Disorder! This, despite the fact that

BEFORE the drops, he was considered gifted and a model student! Of course, I

didn't look at the ingredients until AFTER the fact...and by then, he had

received a whopping 75mcgs of thimerosal in 4 days time. His hair analysis

says he has all the same metals as his autistic brother!

All My Best,

I definately would not use these drops.

Depending on how much energy I had, I might also complain

to the doctor, the company that made the drops, etc.

I'd suggest:

a. ask the pharmacy if they have the stuff the doctor prescribed

in some form without thimerosol. (maybe another brand doesn't

have thimerosal in it??)

b. ask the doctor for a different perscription. Warn him/her

that you will need to continue trying things until you find

something WITHOUT thimerosal in it.

If I accidentally ate something with thimerosal in it, I

would take activated charcoal. I don't know if this is the

amount of thimerosal your son took is " a problem " , but

taking activated charcoal is NOT a problem and I think it

would actually help with ingested mercury. I'm not positive

about that, but I think so.

Hi, I went to the doctor for an ear ache last night and he gave me a

prescription for drops that I when I read the ingredients, have thimerosal

(.0002%Mecury) in them. Does anyone know if this gets absorbed directly into

the bloodstream through the ear

canal? My son also opened the bottle put a little on his finger, tasted it

and said yuck before I could stop him and that's when I looked at the

ingredients. Are there other drops/things that can be used? I guess you

have to ask/check the ingredients of everything these days.
