Guest guest
Do the people REALLY get what they deserve? Looks like some of them do. But how about us? Gene E. Gandy, JD, LP EMS Professions Program Tyler Junior College Tyler, TX
Guest guest
Well, what I meant was, when the voters speak, they usually get what they deserve. In this case they apparently chose not to have a hospital, so in the case of those who voted against it, they will get exactly what they deserve. Only problem is with the ones who voted for it. They're stuck with the result. gene E. Gandy, JD, LP EMS Professions Program Tyler Junior College Tyler, TX
Guest guest
Well this means that another rural town will soon be without a hospital or EMS. I think that the last article that I saw, if it failed, they would be closing both in 6 months or less. Wayne Re: Whitney & Limestone Co. The Hospital District failed 55% to 45%. Guest guest
You know what, We need to get some folks together that have EMS experience from managing EMS operations and see if we can not come up with an idea that could save Whitney EMS. I would be willing to bet that we could do it. Thoughts any one???????? Joby Berkley Whitney & Limestone Co. > > > > Does anyone know how the elections in Whitney and Limestone County turned > out? Guest guest
I have not talked to anyone from that area to see what the plans are going to be for the EMS when the hospital closes. I've heard that the FD would probably not take it over, since it is all volunteer. They are going to have to do something, because the other two providers in the county can not in anyway handle the entire county. Hill County will not do anything to help, because they don't want to be in the ambulance business. Wayne Re: Whitney & Limestone Co. Guest guest
Wayne, Has Hill County publicly stated that they are not interested or would they prefer doing an RFP. Also, if I remember right there are only three paid services for the entire county??? What about Bosque County, do they have a paid service in the county or is it all volunteer? There is always an alternative to the problem so we just have to locate it....Of course, they may not want any help for that matter. Guest guest
There use to be 3. Southern Hill County EMS, Inc., my old service was closed by the board of director back in July 2000. There are two now, Whitney EMS and Hillsboro Fire/EMS. Itasca EMS is all volunteer The county commissioners made it known last year during commissioners court that they were not in the ambulance business and did not want to be. This was just about as public as it could be. Bosque County has only one paid service, and it has a history behind it also. Meridian is all volunteer. If you want to know the history let me know off list Wayne Re: Whitney & Limestone Co. Wayne, Has Hill County publicly stated that they are not interested or would they prefer doing an RFP. Guest guest
This will mean that once the hospital closes, the only one left in the county will be about 20 miles one way or 35 miles to Waco. You would think that these people would want to keep their hospital open. But, they are probably looking at it, why should we put money into something that is losing money now. Or the last thing they wanted was to pay more taxes. It will be interesting to see what happens. West Hospital is also in the same boat. However, they have not voted on anything yet. But, since they are only 20 miles from Waco, it may or it may not pass when their district formation come up for a vote in West. Wayne Re: Whitney & Limestone Co. Guest guest
If anyone hears how the EMS part turns out let me know. We will be letting a bond election soon for a new facility and would be interested in how any election concerning ems turns out. Henry Joby Berkley wrote: > The Hospital District failed 55% to 45%. Guest guest
Community apathy is pretty hard to fight. Not my real feelings here but; (is it worth saving?) Guest guest
I've found in most of these types of votes the C.A.V.E.(Citizens Against Virtually Everything) Political Party come out and proffer how the fat-cats are out to suck everybody dry on their property taxes. CAVE is a stout political party everywhere. Not only do they rely on the scare tactic, voter complacency and low turnouts always help CAVE win their battles. aloha, Mikey wegandy@... wrote: > Well, what I meant was, when the voters speak, they usually get what they > deserve.
