Guest guest
I just got off the phone with the head of the Autism Society whom I became friends with when we did not know was hearing impaired. They have found that MOST children are misdiagnosed as being Autistic when they actually are hearing impaired. Ear tubes, growth and change of eustatin tubes and sinus cavity are responsible for many of the changes in the behavior. When they can hear they behave better. It has little or nothing to do with any intervention except medical. (ear tubes and removal of ear glue and just growth of the child's head) Many, Many children with hearing loss act Autistic but if you are hearing impaired according to the DSM-4 you cannot receive an autistic diagnosis. What do you guys think! I think it is great news because maybe more parents will take there children for a second opinion and have their ears checked instead of listening to a school audiologist.
