Hello all! I've been living with a large (17 cm) intramural fibroid

(ultrasound in April), and its smaller siblings, for some years now;

take Alesse to control bleeding and Zoloft to control me :). For

about six months, I have experienced annoying/heavy/clot-emitting but

tolerable

periods which fade into clear fluid after a week, and then the fluid

subsides. Also, for the past two years and longer, my feet have begun

to swell during warm weather; since April of this year, the swelling

has extended up to my knees, accompanied by what looks like a mild

sunburn. Prolonged standing makes this painful, as does a lot of

walking, and I get very little relief from lying down..in fact the

swelling has woken me in the middle of the night. I know that the

uterus' role in fluid balance is really important..and wonder whether

the big fibroid is throwing things off. I have been told that my only

option other than medical management is hysterectomy, to which I say

not unless there's cancer; I had an endometrial biopsy in April which

was negative (hurray). So I get to live with the big one and its

entourage, types not identified, but if there's any experience with

these sorts of side effects out there, I would appreciate hearing

about it, as well as any methods you tried.

Thanks, Jody (now in andria, VA and without health insurance

until I find a job)
