The abducted five-year-old girl and the suspect were spotted about an hour and a half later in the 5600 block of Bissonnet. She was taken right in front of her apartment. Several kids were playing in the courtyard, when a man lured five children inside of an ambulance-type van. Five of those kids were able to get out, leaving the little girl alone with the suspect. One of the kids said that the suspect told them to go “in the back” because there was a mobile clubhouse with candy. At around 6:00, police had found the two and they were both taken into custody. There are no outward signs of harm. Doctors are still checking to see if there are any physical signs. The little girl was shaken up. An eyewitness who was watching the news saw the girl who fit the description, and he then called the police. A few blocks down, police found the ambulance that was reported stolen just recently. The little girl was reunited with her parents on Thursday night. Witnesses saw the suspect frequently coming in and out of an apartment complex in the 7200 block of Atwell—sometimes accompanied with a little girl. The suspect lives with a roommate who gave the police consent to check out the apartment. Police did find evidence that could be very crucial in the other recent abductions. There is reason to believe that he is part of at least on of the abductions because he has a lazy eye, and some of the other victims said that the suspect had a lazy eye. © Copyright 2000 Belo Interactive Inc., All Rights Reserved.
