Debbi -

They told me 3 days before rejoining civilization. I don't feel qualified

in the least to say if this is a reasonable figure or not, but that was on

the instructions I was given. My personal radioactivity is down to a

small fraction of what it was after less than 2 1/2 days.

And I guess that us glow-in-the-dark people are leaving behind our

radioactive salts. It's easy to wash away salt, so any toilet, shower,

plate, clothing or washable item just needs to be washed well and it's

safe. If you sleep with a teddy bear which you could have left saliva on,

best to banish him to the garage for a few months to decontaminate.

And to answer Rita, I am getting blood work every 6 weeks to get those T's

adjusted correctly. My endo is really also a co-worker, so I can get his

ear if I stop by the office at lunch.

And I guess I'm also the weird one here with respect to reaction to the

29.9 mCI. The thaught of going under the knife for the initial

operation didn't bother me at all. Partly because we believed it

was benign and partly because I work there. Actually was looking

forward to seeing how the whole OR thing worked as a patient.

But the thaught of swollowing a chemical, which, at a previous job... well

I won't discuss what I saw them do with nuclear waste right now. Anyway,

I got myself so worked up, that any real physical symptoms from it were

not noticable at all.

In retrospect, I probably could have driven myself home from the

operation, but I should not have driven myself to and from the RAI. From

the list afterwards, I realized that 29.9 mCI is really a 'baby sized'

dose - not to make light of a serious medical procedure, though.
