Jesus, I'd like to get >those fools out of there. It would be great- all the freedom to discuss our experiences and opinion on 12 step programs, on a newsgroup that is accessible anywhere in the world, and none of the trolls. That would be a valuable thing to have. I'm not physically well and I don't have a lot of energy, but I would be prepared to do some of the moderating- I don't know if it would be feasable with a 486 computer, living in the UK, and only able to spend maybe an hour a day on it- but if it was, it would be a lot better for me and my immune system than the alternative that we currently have; looking every day at the list of articles most of which are there to deliberately clog the newsgroup up, skipping all the trolls and trying not to peek, knowing that probably a lot of people are reading them and then feeling like that newsgroup isn't worth bothering with- I find the present situation really draining because I can't really DO anything to fix it. I also think that the recovery needs of people who have had bad experiences with 12 step programs will be comparable to the need people have to find recovery programs in the first place. I'ts an unknown quantity but I think it is a massive number. But it will be largely unrecorded due to the nature of the problem. I mean, how many people go to their family doctor and say " I need help to recover from AA " ? It's like rape, domestic violence and racial attacks-- it's largely unreported. Except it is even more unreported than those things- at least there are laws and criminal prosecutions applicable in those cases. Someone who doesn't like AA is told very often that it is simply because they are in denial and it is their fault. >Joe: your right. Anger does breed anger. Yup. On the net its a virus- it is self-replicating, doesn't think, and only needs a suitable environment in which to propagate itself- an angry human host. Not that it isn't useful as well sometimes (I put that bit in for Ken ;-)). ---- Read this list on the Web at http://www.FindMail.com/list/12-step-free/ To unsubscribe, email to 12-step-free-unsubscribe@...
